Isn't it amazing what you can pick up on Ebay for a couple of bucks.
Here's a prime example, I bought an old (12 year+) Tamiya TamTech 1/24 scale GTP car with the ESC/RX combo called the CPR.
This thing was trashed, who ever owned it before me sure got their money's worth out of it.

Diff was worn, wouldn't turn, the built-in receiver was out of synch, someone had adjusted the oscillators and the tires were worn, the rims trashed, as in hairline cracks..
Chassis was badly scratched as was the motor from outside use. The motor was pretty tired too...
The bushings were worn thru too...

Here's a before pic

The saga continues

Anyway, after plenty of Ebay shopping, I managed to find a diff-set including the shaft, tires, alloy motor mount parts, a main chassis, wheels and new motor.
I hooked the Tamiya CPR RX/ESC up to the 'scope and did some recallibration, which is easy when the RX is 27MHz.

After a painstaking rebuild, the 12 year old TamTech was looking good.

Mission accomplished

More Ebay shopping and I find a BMW GTP bodyshell. It's now complete, totaly restored in almost pristine condition, bar a few scratches on the rear suspension plate.
Its been fitted with dry ceramic bearings all round and I made a few sets of 800mAh NiMh 7.2V battery packs for it.

The TamTech being a 180 motor equipped 1/24 scale RC car makes for exciting driving, no brakes on this baby.
The foam tires do a fairly decent job on most even and grippy surfaces.

Oh, I hate to admit this, but the 12 year old TamTech will trash most Micro RS4s too, even those with a 300 sized motor. On power:weight this thing rocks and it handles too.

After the test run, I fitted the new wheel/tire sets and it will enjoy its retirement on the shelf with many of my older "retro" RC cars.
Good to look at and still a runner....
