Is there a replacement ESC that will work (pair) with the original tx in the wltoys 144001? I figure the rx and tx must be made by some brand name? Looking for something that can handle a little more current.

There is no upgrade, you have to get a separate esc and rx/tx.

I do not recall anyone making an upgraded 2-in-1 compatible ESC/receiver. Those 2-in-1 electronics do, I guess, save on space, but when one part fails.... Just like those motors with the speed control built in... they have their place, but I'm not a fan. And if you do decide on getting separate components, getting another receiver will also mean getting another servo, because of the whole 5 wire vs. 3 wire servo thing. Is there a way to make a 5 wire servo work on a regular receiver that uses a signal, pos +, and neg- wires?

There are videos I believe on youtube on how to convert a 5 wire servo in to a 3 wire. I looked it up once and I can't remember what the deal was but there was soemthing about converting one that while it would work there was some caveat to doing so. I just can't remember exactly what it was. Id have to go read up on it again.

Ok, so I found on Ali Express website what they claim to be original parts replacements for the 144001 including the ESC and Brushed motor. They do look the same in the picture. I ordered both of these items for a total of $25 out the door including shipping (from of coarse China) ! We’ll see if the transmitter actually pairs with this one. I have two of these little cars now, and I figure the motor or esc (since it gets pretty warm) will give out eventually. I’m not at the point of doing mods yet. Got 1 of the cars off Banggood for $86 Black Friday sale, which is pretty darn cheap compared to Amazon or similar. I’m new into cars, and I really like the 144001’s cause they’re cheap, fast and just a lot of fun, plus that’s all I have for now. I’ll give one to my kid so we can race around together. Hopefully the parts from Alibaba are actually oem, and aren’t super cheap knockoffs. Not like the parts that come with the car are really top tier. But, always good to have spare parts though.
