reasons for overheating?

A lean HSN or not enough air getting to the cooling head could cause an over-heating condition.
 
^ From my limited experience these are the reasons. Also if you get a air leak on the current tune then that will lean it out and make it run hot also.
 
Actually there are a number of things that can make it run hot. I think these will cover it:

Too lean on the LSN
Too lean on the HSN
Not enough Air Flow over the engine
Wrong glow plug
Air leak in the engine
Too much rolling resistance - such as dragging the brake,binding somewhere in the gears/diffs,tuning on-road and then running off in grass etc..
Wrong fuel for engine setup.
