I currently have an on road nitro touring car but want to go in a different direction. I want something electric so i dont have to deal with that tuning nonsense. its real difficult, especially since i started with a used car. and something that wont get stuck in dead grass.
I really want something like the jeeps that are in the G.I.Joe video.
Not identical, but along those lines.
Something that can be driven like a crawler, but not as intense as a competion crawler. I will drive it mostly in the yard and around the house, building obstacles along the way.
does anyone know what kind of rig this description fits?
I think i can get rid of all my nitro stuff for around $200-400 so my price range will be less than that since some of that money will go to pay for books for school.

Thanks for the help guys.

You're talking about a "scale" rig. Axial makes a great kit, the scx10, looks like a scale truck, and very capable out of the box. You can get several different body options with them as well.

I found something on the bay and this is what the seller says in the ad:

""Custom scale crawler built using Axial AX10 parts. Has TCS x-trail chassis for scale look. Proline flat iron 1.9 tires on axial 1.9 beadlocks. Proline K5 chevy Blazer body with descent paint job. Includes Integy 45 turn motor and Towerpro MG955 servo. Servo is quite powerful at full 6 volts. Both axles are locked. Custom body mounts for K5 body. Has T-maxx shock with internal springs for more scale look. Good crawler. ""

sounds like the scale rig I'm looking for!

was $10 and as soon as I started bragging about it i was outbid!
so i raised the bar. its $56 right now.

lol i just hope nobody steals it out from under me after reading the post

No fear, Wolfgang. I removed it.
Great deal so far. Wait for NCNitro to give you the good word.

Worst comes to worst, you can check on the for sale/trade section here. I've gotten some really sweet deals from other members there.

thats a good point. and I've been checking and id love to trade or buy, but i dont have quite enough posts yet lol so i can't start a thread

good point.
I was looking through whats available and i found axials! ....then noticed that they were sold and the thread was locked lol
just my luck.
but its ok. I have 4 days until the ebay auction ends. right now its up to $63. not sure what its worth so i am afraid of going to high and paying more than its worth.

Look on Tower's site and you'll see what it's worth new, then figure in the add ons such as the body.
The price will go up fast close to the end.

Don't go crazy bidding on that rig. The chassis can be bought for around $30 brand new from TCS crawlers, the servo is a tower pro servo, which can be purchased brand new on the bay for about $12, and the motor is an Integy 45 turn motor, brand new about $20. There is nothing real special about that truck, it has no esc, no radio or receiver, so basically it is just a roller. Personally I wouldnt go much higher than it is now, it looks well used.

No problem, I just don't want to see him get a lemon, or less than he expected, and then end up losing interest in scale rcs. It has become probably my favorite segment of rc at the moment.

Thanks for the heads up fellas.
I was outbid when i checked while eating my cheerios this morning. I'm gonna let it go.
I realized the appeal isnt the finished project, but about the build.
And with that truck there isnt much left for me to do myself.
Looks to me like ill be having to franken-scale something!

You might want to look at the Axial SCX10 kit. You could build it and add whatever electronics as you can afford it. That's how I built mine.

For me, the building is the BEST part! Start looking for good deals on stuff like a chassis, a body you like, rims and tires, esc, servos, etc, and build that sucker yourself. That way it will be yours, and not just some truck you bought 90% done.

Hamz: what did that kit cost, if you don't mind telling.

I know it CAN be cheaper depending on where I get my parts of course but at the same time I don't want to spend more than a few months max collecting parts. I know the longer it takes to get started, the less chance I have of doing it, as with most projects in my "to-build" book lol

I think I bought it for about $350 at my lhs. I try to buy locally when I buy new.
