I left my radio on to see how long it would last (over 4 hours btw :D) and just now I felt the back of it and it's a little warm, is this normal? Temp gun says about 96 degrees... only warm enough to feel warm to the touch. It's only in the one area too. Maybe that's where the spread spectrum antenna is?
 
There is a voltage regulator in the spektrum radio's that gets warm. I found a "mod" to change it out with a more efficient one that adds a lot of run time.

At least that would be my guess as to where the heat is coming from for the most part.

It's an MX-3 FHSS. Same thing?

Sorry, I saw your "spread spectrum" in your first post and immediately thought "spektrum". I have no idea what airtronics has inside theirs. Probably not the same. But may have some sort of voltage regulator that is kicking off some heat as well.
