Man Jeff, all throughout Q1 and Q2 I didn't really think Jensen was gonna be able to sit on pole. I was soo stoked to see him snatch it away from Vettel at the last possible moment. That was about as exciting as it gets right there. Man, 4 wins out of 5... even being a givaway win, that's pretty awesome. It is what it is, that's F1 and you can't blame 'em really.

Unfortunately I didn't see qualifying. I was surprised though at some of the results. A Ferrari out in Q1? Really? There's no doubt their strategists are doing horribly. They hung Massa out with a light fuel load at the end of the race and cost him what? 2, 3 positions? Kimi's car was faulty pretty much right from the lights. I do think they handed Button the win. Although I was watching intermittently through the middle of the race, I wondered why they shorted Barrichelo's second pit. They could have given him enough to finish the race, but somehow opted for a 3-stop race. Hm.
One thing that still amazes me is the starkness of Brawn GP. When they pan over to the Brawn crew, they're still in basic black and white suits with generic helmets. I realized Virgin is still the only sponsor on the cars. You'd think that going 4-for-5 would have sponsors flocking to Ross's office. But they're still running almost blank car bodies.

Yeah, I know. They were talking about that during the race, the plain jane cars that is. They had the Terminator logo on the wing this week but that's it aside from the Virgin logo. It absolutely baffles me that there isn't more on that car. Maybe the have all the money they need?.?.? I doubt that though, even Jensen said he thought they would have a tough time staying competitive if they don't have a KERS system by the second half of the season. Anyways, on to Monaco baby! I remember a number of years ago when I was still playing a lot of video games and I opened up "Cote de Azure" in one of the Gran Turismo games on Playstation. I had always thought that was just a really fun track and it wasn't until much later in life that somehow I came to the realization that it was actually based on a real world track. This must have just been the beginning of the trend of simulating not only real world cars but real world racetracks, I had never heard of it done before really. Anyways, since then I have always wanted to go to Monaco for the GP and it's still something I have on my list to do someday. Fortunately, my wife thinks it's a good idea too :)

I would sacrifice a testicle to be able to get a prime view of Monaco. May never be something I really do, but if I had the chance I'd do it in a heartbeat.
And ya now what bugs me? Why aren't there any investors in the US that want to finance a new GP track? The FIA has pretty much indicated that it doesn't think there's a suitable facility in the US for a US GP. So what's the deal? Have you ever looked at Bahrain? It's like the size of Georgia. And they have a primo track. What's keeping the US from building one? I know if I had the clout, connections or cash, I'd be out right now shaking hands and patting backs to get it going. Especially now that the US F1 team is launching. I think a home track would be great. With the changes they've made the tech and racing format, I think F1 could find a good home here. It's almost an embarrassment that we don't have one, especially after the way Indy flopped.

Yeah, I don't know what the deal is. I'll tell you what though, I wouldn't be surprised to see one in the works within a couple years of the new American based team(s) - if you havn't heard, depending on performance of course. An american F1 team needs to take advantage of existing popularity in order to come to the forefront.

Ferrari and Renault... Crybabies?

If you havn't read the news. Both Ferrari and Renault are threatening to pull out of F1 after the '09 season due to the proposed dual set of technical regulations (really just a way to force teams into cutting costs). Do they have a fair argument or are they simply trying to display and use their clout to get what they want?

Opinions?

Josh, I can't find any info on exactly what FIA's proposal is. I read the statements from Ferrari and Renault, but I don't see what is in question. On the surface it sounds like grandstanding. But it also sounds like the FIA may be making unilateral decisions where a consensus is required. So if you can point me to more info, I'd be interested. At this point I can only find the Ferrari and Renault statements on forumula1.com and nothing else.

I don't know all the specifics but they basically want to give the teams the options of A: Agree to a cost cap and have a nearly unlimited technical range or B: do NOT agree to a cost cap and be governed by much more strict technical standards.

The way I see it, it's just a way to force the teams into agreeing to a cost cap because there is no way in hell anybody will be competitive if they are forced to live inside a box that othe teams are not, no matter how much money you spend on it.

Anybody watching the All-Star burnout competition. I just saw Wendi V. talking to Greg Biffle and noticed Greg's wearing braces... WTF?!?!

Interesting. I hadn't noticed until now. It's jus sort of weird to see somebody of his age with braces. You don't see that very often.

Aww.. I was hoping Martin or Reuti would get voted in. I'm turning into a big Ambrose fan but he's too new to get too many votes.

I think Joey's Woo was better than Ric's! Ric doesn't Woo like he once did.. At any rate, pretty damn cool to have Ric Flair at a Nascar event. Woooo!
