I'm on FIRE! Lord help me I'm on fire, help me Oprah Winfrey!, help me jewish guy!

LMAO!

What a wild finish, at least that catch fence did it's job, that could have been a lot worse.

ya it was a great finish...and thank god that catch fence worked...you always hope you don't need it but when it is needed it was a good thing it worked....i thought carl ws going to endup upside down for a second there but the fence caght him lol

I hated the Big one on lap 7....racing too hard way to early.....The end was wild, thank god no one was injured really bad
Congrats to the Rookie Brad for the win

TALLADEGA, Ala. -- Eight spectators suffered injuries at the end of the Aaron's 499 Sunday when the No. 99 Ford of Carl Edwards went airborne and slammed into the catch fence on the frontstretch.

"None of the injuries are dangerous or life-threatening," said Dr. Bobby Lewis, medical director at Talladega Superspeedway. "It's mostly bumps and bruises with possible minor fractures."

Two women were airlifted to an area hospital.

"One has a lacerated lip and possible broken jaw," Lewis said. "The other person was not injured, but has unrelated medical problems."

Edwards was leading the race about 500 yards before the finish line when he tried to block Brad Keselowski from passing him. But Edwards hit the right front quarter panel of Keselowski's car.

It caused Edwards' car to spin before it came off the pavement and flew into the fencing above the outside wall.

"NASCAR puts us in this box [restrictor-plate racing] and will race this way until they kill somebody," Edwards said. "Then they'll change it. We're very lucky nobody got [seriously] hurt today."

When the car hit the catchfence, pieces exploded off the car as catch fencing bent back severely, but did not break.

"I'm not sure if it was pieces of car or pieces of debris from the fence that hurt the spectators," Lewis said.

i just found that

Wow! Is all I have to say. Watching these plate races gives me an ulcer! Lap 7 and you have 8 cars in a huge wreck. Thankfully Jr made it through. I am no Gordon fan, but nobody deserves to get taken out that early on. That is what makes plate racing so difficult. You have some control, but ultimately you are at the mercey of 43 other drivers out there. It was such a small bump by Kurt, but it doesn't take much to get a car loose and out of control at Dega. Hate to see it for those guys. The old paint scheme on Gordon's car was pretty neat.

After it was all said and done, I think it was a great race... not so much for the fans that were injured, but the fence did it's job and at least the car went back on the track and not back into the stands. Carl took a wild ride and I was glad he was ok. Kenseth had a pretty wild ride himself on Saturday!

I have mixed feelings about restrictor plates... it makes for some really exciting racing, but in the same time it can ruin the race for so many drivers so quickly.

Wasn't there a truck or busch car a few years back that hit the fence in Daytona?

Yes.. Geoff Bodine had his Craftsman Truck cartwheel into the fencing at Daytona. Nearly killed him, and ended his driving career.

That was one of the most violent crashes I have ever seen!

Yes it was... the COT is much better built too... if that was the Nationwide car or a truck... I feel it would have been far worse. Thankfully it was not.

Yes, that is the crash I was talking about! How he survived that is beyond me, and the Dale's crash looked like nothing, and he was killed. I guess when your numbers up, it's up.

i was going for mark to win for the last 30 laps of the race...congrats to the old guy lol...thats two this season now...and i'm sure there wil be a whole lot more

Mark's back in the top 12 in points and has 2 wins. That'll play well for him in the Chase as long as he stays up there. It was a long-ass race for sure. I was pretty stoked that Jeff not only hung in there to get his lap back, but they actually strategized to get him to a top 5. Awesome finish for him considering the trouble he had earlier.
And, like NCNitro said, a cut tire and a up close meeting with the wall couldn't have happened to a nicer guy!!!! LOL!

Nice win for Mark. That's a good one for sure. I was hoping Truex could pull it off and I was certainly hoping for a top five out of Jaime. I'm so sick of his bad luck. It just doesn't seem fair sometimes.

Great racing all weekend. Glad to see Kyle cut a tire in the Nationwide race and glad he tore the wall down on Saturday night. What a long race though!! Congrats to Mark for his second win this year!

Looking forward to Charlotte and some short track style racing at a speedway this Saturday night.
