hey i have a couple questions about forums.

1. why does it require you to wait 20 seconds between searches?
2. In the for sale forum what does "bump" mean?

1. I have no idea

2. Every time you make a post it bumps that thread to the top of the page, typing bump is a way to get your post on the top of the page without typing useless info.

it just "bump"s the thread to the top of the "new posts" page so more people will see it. most people use the "new posts" button to get to the newest posts on the board.

I think it's just a way to keep people from moving too fast, and it may have to do with Spam as well but I'm not sure. I'm thinking that it keeps the server from getting too much thrown at it at one time, but that's strictly speculation.

WoodiE posted this awhile back when this exact question was asked.....

"The timer is more of a security feature as it stops someone from doing search after search trying to bring down the site as searches take a lot of system resources to perform."
