An old guy saw my Spidocaster guitar and just couldn't leave here without it. He offered me this Kay mandolin, and after seeing how nice this is, I kinda feel bad for him getting an unfair deal. It just feels like a super nice instrument .

@WickedFog I play the mandolin, far from an expert. Kay’s were a popular players mandolin in their day, some professional musicians used them. They were a more economical option to the Gibson’s and such. There are different construction methods that affect value and sound, higher line instruments have the fronts and backs carved from solid woods, others are thin sheet of fine grade plywood glued to the frames. Just some basics for you, tha Kay is referred to as an “A” style based on body shape, it has “f” holes for the sound to come out, other will have oval or round sound holes. Looks like a nice rig. To get more info on your mandolin and other aspects take a look at Mandolin Cafe. Let me know if you have any other questions, some guitar players enjoy playing on the mandolin, some find the small frets and neck size frustrating.

Yeah, after messing with it a bit, I think I'm going to have to find it a new home. I have a hard enough time playing a guitar. The frets on this are made for toddlers 😆

I am assuming it is a fairly affordable model, but it sure does look nice. It is also surpringly a lot heavier than you would expect. They put some good wood in this one.

I have been looking, and so far I'm drawing a blank.

You know anybody that might be interested.

I do not know anyone looking at this time. Check the classified on that mandolin website to give you an idea on value and then list it locally? If it feels heavy it may be carved, your fingers will get used to it, I have fat fingers….😛

I haven't even finished learning guitar yet. And I've used up my mental capacity for learning new things. I was considering selling a bunch of things anyway. Just toale some room, and to come up with some money to put back for this winter. Every year the higher electric bills put me in the hole.
