I just got a NiMH battery and a Swallow 2 charger and was wondering if the charger stop charging when the battery is fully charged? Or do I have to watch something and stop it myself? Its a brand new battery, but it still has to be charged before use, right?

The charger should stop itself. I've never used that charger, but it looks like all the other Ice/Triton types out there. They all have monitoring circuits onboard which can tell when the battery is fully charged and will stop charging when they reach peak. Basically, just plug the charger in. Plug the battery into it. Set your battery type and charge rate. Then just push start.

The pack should be very warm ~110-120 degrees F when the charger has completed the charge cycle. If the pack is cool to the touch the charger has false peaked. Go into the settings and adjust the delta V cutoff to a higher value. Normally it is set to 5 mV/cell but can be slightly higher or lower depending on the brand and capacity of your pack.

I just tried it now, and it did indeed tell me when it was done charging. Guess I gotta be around to stop it though. I charged it on C=0.8A.
