Thanks for the info though Zandor I will remember this thread when I get my truck so it wasn't a total waste
9 Turns out......
When the factory settings are 4 1/2..BS..
You have more problems....
Good luck with that mill.....
Go ask your LHS if they think it has an air leak!
Then tell them to try again...They are idiots...
Matter of fact I don't think you can even turn a neddle 9 turns It would fall out!
One more thing I thing you need to do some reading on tuning......
I agree. If it really took nine complete turns out on the HSN, then it is leaking air somewhere...badly! If stock is 4 to 4 1/2 turns out from bottom, then hypothetically, you should be leaning it out (turning clockwise) as the engine breaks in.
Looking over the thread, I'm not sure you gave Zandor's advice enough time to work. He had you on the right path (which is why you didn't see a lot of others jumping in, that way it avoids confusion) so I think with the number of times you adjusted the needle, it got way, way out of whack.
What I think the guy at your hobby shop is alluding to is that he backed it out four turns from bottom. You may have thought he backed it out from your setting, but typically, if I have an engine acting up on me, I'll bottom the HSN then return it to factory settings and go from there.
I think the overall lesson from what Zandor's posts were implying is that patience is the overall key to truly enjoying this hobby, my man. These are little engines and even the smallest adjustment can have a huge impact on their performance. Make an adjustment, then run it for a bit to see what happens. If it still is not performing as it should, then adjust again, but only adjust one thing at a time! Everyone here (Zandor included) at one time tried adjusting the HSN, the LSN and a host of other things at the same time, only to end up with the same results. Dial one aspect in, then move to the other.
Eventually, you'll end up where you want to be!
Good luck!
no I watched him the whole time he was tampering with my "$500 toy". He never set the hsn back to factory. basically we went outside and started the truck He made adjustments to both needles over about 2 tanks. He basically told me that the engine was way to lean. This guy was in his 40s and when he was tuning my "$500 toy" he seemed to know exactly what he was doing.
If there was an airleak where should I look for it? It would be between the tank and the carb right?
Take it to the 40 year old smart man that turned the HSN out 9 turns...he should be able to figure it out!
Maybe I should just stick to electric.
Yeah, maybe you should.
Good luck with the refund.
Good to hear...Send it back and pick up the revo like you were going to in the first place..
My self and I am sure others will be here to help you out...
No hard feelings![]()
All that I ask is the next go around listen and relax..
If you are a noob you will prolly have a hard time with the Jato 3.3 as it is very very fast and hard to control for noobs. This is what I have read as I am a noob to but did alot of research before I bought my Revo 3.3 was looking at the Jato but it says to get the 3.3 you should have expert exp with nitro r/c's Just My 2 Cents![]()
