Pull start

Who the H$LL said they are better than the other starting systems out there????? I'm TRING to put the pull start back together on my .26 and it is SUCH a pain!!!!!!!!!!!! That coiled "spring" I can put back in,but I CAN'T get the center piece to line up with the spring! I think Ford people muct have designed these things.

Time for the starter box or rotostart.

hey man, its easy for me to fix pull starts now, just ask skymaxx, he can tell you how to do it. he helped me with the same problem, and i can do it now.

I tried to put a pull start back in a lawn mower once, almost lost an arm. It can be a pain. I got a decent starter box from my LHS for around 50 bucks. i would suggest it. i have had hte car for less than a week and I already have bleeding knuckles and blisteron da fingers. Work smarter, not harder

I like my pull starts... I have never snapped a spring or string, so i guess i just havent worked on em enough to find the painful part...

Are you sure you didn't break the spring that attaches to the spool? I've done that many times.

I'd probably put on a tigerdrive over a rotostart. You can set the clutch on a drill, whereas the roto will destroy your one-way bearing.

The roto can destroy the one-way if you are an idiot or n00b and do not know how to use it... It's very simple to not tear-up the one-way, common sense is your best friend for rc...

ah yeas the dreded pullstarts. They never work for me either, I dont know what the deal is, but I've had more problems with them then anything else on my rc. I have the rotostart on my savage and I love the thing. I have just over a gallon on it so far with no probs yet. (knock on wood) My batteries have been dead a few times on my roto start and I used a drill also. it works but sucks kinda because you have to go in reverse on the drill and the starter shaft kept coming loose (It was a hand tighten cordless) but I would think a drill would really suck having to lug around. Id go roto start.

Hi PSUNITRO! You may not be able to get the center to line up with the spring AND have the pull knob tight to the box all in one shot. What you need to do is just un-wind the center until it will line up with the spring. Then, re-tie the line to your pull knob so it takes up the slack. I usually pull out some line, clip a pair of vice grips to it so it doesn't go back in, then retie to the knob. You will lose a little line each time you do this but that's the FUN of pull-starts. Hope this helps.
