I'm wanting to to get a starter box so I was just curious if my pull start can be removed since it won't be used. The only way I see to do it by removing the pull cord assembly and leaving the backplate installed to keep the motor sealed. But then it would leave the start shaft just kinda floating there. I'd be afraid that it would come out and damage something. The only solution I could think for that would be to get some gasket maker and seal the hole where the start shaft goes.

If somebody has a better way of doing this, please let me know.

I've already tried searching for a rotor start kit, but I'm unable to find one for my specific engine.

No tiger drive avail? It may be worth a phone call if no one else can give you kit info that will work. I'm sure kyosho is farming their motors from some other manufacturer, but I don't know who that is.

I don't see one on ebay!

But if you alter it ,make sure that you get the catch pin & spring out of the crankshaft if there is one.
You don't want it to get sucked up into the pist/sleeve!....:D

Ohhh yeah that could be a tough one to find a back plate for. I agree, Tiger Drive is probably the best idea.

I don't know who is making Kyosho's motors. I doubt they are building them in house but perhaps a nitro engine shop would be able to help. Like RBMods.net would be a good place to get answers on a cover. Tiger drive would DEF be the place for the shaft start.

Unless you're looking for a weight reduction, Id leave the starter cord on.
It never hurts to have a backup when the shaft start fails you.
I have nitro big block and it eats rotostart batteries like none other, then I think of how nice a pull start would be lol.
just my 2cents

Just leave it on. Maybe use a broken one that doesn't have internals just to shield the shaft.
