Hey all, I aquired a used Firestorm about 2 days ago and I am dying to fire this thing up and see what it is made of. However I like to perform an acceptance inspection for myself just to kinda make it feel like it has been mine all along ya know. Well, I started to tear into this baby and found 2 very serious problems. The First problem is there is a very important piece missing on the front of the truck. It is part number 100319. It is the little piece that holds the A-arm rods in the truck and is held on by 2 M2x8mm cap head screws part number Z411. The piece is missing and one screw is bent to heck and the other is missing it's head. All 3 need to be replaced. No biggy right? Well I have tried all 8 hobby stores with in 100 miles of my area and NO ONE stocks Firestorm parts!!!! WTH I thought this thing was pretty popular. I have looked online and people want like $20 combined for the parts and shipping to me. I think that is pretty darn high for a $5 part and $3 screws.
Where is the cheapest place to find these screws and that part? Online or anywhere.
The Second problem was discovered right before I poured brand new trinity fuel in the tank to test the engine.
The inside of the tank is covered with some sort of residue which is light tan or brown in color. There are pictures below of the Tank.
What can I use to flush this tank out and clean it really good? I have bought replacement fuel lines to install as well.
I am not sure about the engine. It has tight compression and is pretty loose. Does not feel gummed up or anything.
I have never disassembled a nitro engine yet and I would prefer not to unless I have a major problem.
If I get new fuel into the engine after cleaning everything won't the new fuel flush everything out?
The guy told me that it has been sitting in his garage for like 6-8 months and the after run procedure was never ever done!! Poor Firestorm!!
Hope you all can help me. I have a Revo 3.3 so I am not completely out of the Nitro loop. I just want to prevent any damage to my new toy before I get the full Firestorm experience
