Whaddup guys,

It seems like just yesterday that I was building my own pc's and tweaking the hell out of them. Alas, the pc market depends on Video cards and "video" in general and moves @ a rediculous pace as in two years I'm "out of the loop"..hehe.

I'd like to here what experienced Gamers and especially tweakers would reco for a good video card. I've always liked the Raedon cards but like many I've always hated most "official" and beta drivers. I'd prefer an Nvidia Chipset unless the ATI has come around with driver issues. It has to be under the "price curve" (while I realize it's a reality to an extent, I don't like to buy the current best on the market and loose my ass in a month.lol) and I'd really like to here from Video Card overclockers on a good card. RIght now I'm still running a Ti-300 that's overclocked all to hell (still running almost cold with water cooling) but even though I don't have time to play games like I use to, my current card is getting very crusty to say the least for my tastes.

I also don't really wanna get an "all in wonder" card or similar offerings from Nvidia. I already have advance video editing/production stuff at my buddies work.

Peace and Thanks in advance

I have an ATI RAdeon 9600 PRO, it is AGP 4x-8x. 128mb. It is one awsome card. My monitor is the only thing holding me back from setting it to the highest setting. It cleans up internet streaming video damn nice. Games are awsome, Ther are better ones out there, but this is the best one for under $200, it was $139 when I bought it from BestBuy............... good luck

Thanks man,

I have a bad ass MOFO of a monitor so that's taken care of.

I'm still more then open to suggestions guys.

I am running an ATI 9700PRO. I have not had one problem with the drivers for the card and the control pannel software. I will usually give it a month or two until I install the newest Cataylist drivers. Since I have purchased the 9700PRO the first thing I do when I install a game is crank up every possible detail. Then adjust my controls. :)

Comes down do how "hardcore" you wanna be, and how deep your wallet is..

The 9600 seems to be the sweet spot for medium priced cards

I'm using a 9700pro

THat's exactly it.....I don't mind being "hardcore" if the price is right. You get it up the arse when you buy the lastest top of the line vid card and and the price drops 50% or more in a month or two.

Thanks for the help

OK, here goes...............I build PC's on the side, not as a regular business mind you, but I do build them and do repairs also, and since I have been in the Nitro r/c game I have really slacked off with the pc world, I can say however that nVidia has really come a long way with the new chipsets on the mobo's and thier video cards are outstanding as well, I tend to stay away from the ATI cards with the XP o/s since I have always run across driver conflicts at one point or another, but have had nothing but great results with nVidia cards, heck even the nForce onboard video is kick ass (if you don't mind sharing resources with onboard devices).........also I have been using the AMD XP brand cpu's, not as spendy as the P4's, but still up to par with the performance area......I know intel has the hyper threading deal, but what most people are over looking with the HT technology is you have to have a mobo that supports the HT, and the 800 Mhz FSB, and the ram that supposrts the same.......with out them you are just reverting to whatever the mobo and ram will support! There are 2 computer shops here where I live and both are good friends of mine and they also deal more with nVidia rather than ATI, on the other hand if you are running say the Win 98 o/s ATI is right up there with nVidia.........personally I go with nVidia, for performance and cost, ATI I have found is usually higher priced and over rated.
