Well, my novorossi is getting to the point where i seriously need a rebuild. Unfortunately, Team Trinity, which distributes it has discontinued the engine. Not only that, but they couldn't give me a damn part number for the piston and sleeve.

So I ask you guys, can you call your local hobby shops and see if they have a piston/sleeve rebuild kit for a novarossi ns12s3 or ns12s5? If they do have it, can you post their phone number so I can have it shipped?

If I were you I would go on ebay and look up osrocket. They do one hell of a job, and the engine runs even better than new. They pinch and hone the sleeve, I've heard of guys getting 9-10 gallons through after the pinch!

here's a link for an auction http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=19168&item=5908950140. He does great work! And its only $20 back to your door. Can't beat that price!

hmmm, well i called about 6 hobby shops, 3 of them were in california (since their racing is really good) and no one seems to have it. One said they have one that would "probably" work, but i'm kinda skeptical.

I e-mail the osrocket guy to see if he can do it. I'll probably end up going that route if it's only gonna be $20.

Well, I chose the buy it now feature so as soon as he gives me the info, i'll send in the piston/sleeve.

Can't wait to see the kind of work he does.

wow, that's really interesting...hmmm, i might get it and then save it for when the sleeve gets worn again :)

My hobby shop wouldnt have it. They dont have poop. But if you ever want a gold series "Bulbasaur" pokeman card, lemme know! LOL

Yeah, I have heard good stuff about OSRocket on ebay. Let us know how the results turn out.

That DIY pinching tool is pretty interesting. I wonder if it is any good. His feedback on it is good. So w/ something like that, would you simply pinch just your sleeve? Or do you put your piston in and pinch the sleeve around it?

I never heard anything bad about osrocket's pinch jobs. I saw that tool in a nitro car mag recently. It takes some practice. If you OVER pinch, it's a problem you can't correct. It's all about pinching a little, then trying the fit of the piston, then, if neccessary, you can pinch some more.

Well I finally got back that pinched piston/sleeve. It's pretty tight right now. I think it's a little tighter than the OEM fit, but my starter box does turn it over. Sad part though, is that the starter box isn't charged so I gotta wait a like 3 hours for it to get a full charge. The engine keeps hitting TDC and the starterbox won't turn it over.

I'm pretty excited to see how it'll run. Hopefully i'll have it broken in by tomorrow night so i can do a thorough test drive :)

Well, i've gone through about a half tank of fuel right now. I have been running it SUPER rich. It's slowly starting to idle better. Also, it's stopped hitting TDC and the starter box is turning it over just fine with one bar left for power and with the engine cold. Compression is still plenty good. So I figure by tomorrow evening i'll have this puppy broken in.

Kwong?

Is this the engine in the NTC3 that I witnessed performing the spectacular 70-yard 58mph rollover on that side street in Federal Way?

Yep :) And it's gonna be even more badass than before. I think when you saw it, it had just about had it. Now it's got a new life :)

lol, but it wasn't 70 yards, i'd of had to been doing 120mph...it was more like 70ft of cartwheeling...lol

feet.. yards.. who cares..

I wish I had the video rolling...

I'll be looking for a "Kwong pwns all" post soon I suppose...

lol, man we need to get a bash going sometime. I'm sending my .46 engine in for replacement...finally got everything i need. Then I can lay some ownage on you T-maxx...lol

i'll have all my r/c's running again...yay

Kwong, what gearing do you use for your novarossi? I just got a rody X12 for mine and am using a 20/26 pinion and 54/48 spur. I'm just looking for a comparrison since I am still plaaying around with gear setups.

I figure yours is geared high for optimum speed. Mine is geared for the track I will be attending most often.

You're gonna make me learn how to drive...

I've been tryin' to get away on pure balls.

This is Truckzilla you're talkin' about?
