Hi guys I got a picco 28 in my savage XL I have’n a little prob with the tuning what happens here is I run the truck and still gets hot or lean to me when I get under half tank goes from 217-230 at half then goes to 250-275 but still runs fine and I have already did the ofna tank because I thought I had the haft tank lean issue but it did the same thing and I have about a gallon of 30% o'donnell's nitro fuel thew the motor
Thanks for all help

Is he engine fully broken in. In my research picks needs to be broken in
properly before they will operate and tune correctly. Scrogg should
be able to have a good explaination for you aswell. If not message him.
He's got a great brain to pick.

Well i deff broke it in the correct way do u think it can be a air leak some where

The motor does run very strong even at 250-275

Some one correct me if i am wrong but i did read some where when breaking the engine in it needs to be a certain temperatures. It could even take up to one gallon of fuel and you will still have engine pinch. Also i was told to stick to ofna pipes for ofna engines. stock pipes do not cut it.

Broke the engine in at 180 and it stayed at 180 its not the stock pipe its a Dynamite 086 pipe do I need to get a OFNA 086 pipe?
It did'nt start doing this til bout 1/2 a gallon of fuel

I normally break mine in at 200-225 and try to keep them there for the duration of their lives. I don't usually hit 200 until tank 2/3 though.

sounds about wright mine was a bite cooler but I after about 1/2 gallon of fuel is when it started doing this I'm going to say on about 18-19 tank full

250-275 is fine, it's not hurting it. If it's smoking, performing and not lean pinging don't sweat it.Try a longer pressure line. The Savage fuel tank is a bad design. A tank mod was the best thing I ever did to mine.
Give me more info like clutch and tires, gearing....every little detail you can think of. Sometimes it's a simple case of too much gearing or not enough. Simple maintenance issues like making sure the clutch shoes do not have grease on them from the bearings.
All clutchbell bearings have oil or either grease in them. When you run the truck, guess where it goes? Straight to the CB and shoes. It's critical that after a tank or two of driving after you install new bearings, that you degrease the inside of the CB and shoes. After that, your good to go. Point is; Grease on clutch=slipping=hot engine.
Go thru your setup for me and I'll do what I can from here if you feel you have an issue.

You need more fuel trough it IMO. Picco's need around 2 gallons before they are broken in.

Probably the case. The internals are very strong, they take a good while to wear in.
A lot of people make the mistake of going straight to the HSN for preformance. Most of the performance comes from a properly set LSN.

The funny thing about Piccos is that the pinch will get tighter after a few tanks of fuel has gone through it, it's the damnedest thing.

Listen to this guy he knows what hes doing. He solved all my issues.

Picco carbs sometimes leak between the aluminum cap (where the HSN assembly threads in) and the composite body. It does not come apart but you can put a topical seal (contacting both surfaces) and often this will cure most tuning issues. It usually doesn't leak when cold but once it's heat soaked it can develop an air leak. I would seal it up and try again.

I had someone mention that to me when I had my axial 28. I got rid of it before trying to seal it that way though. They have the same problem as the picco's.
