That is a common issue with both, yes, but the axial is plagued with many more issues then that alone, many more!
 
The funny thing about Piccos is that the pinch will get tighter after a few tanks of fuel has gone through it, it's the damnedest thing.

I know exactly what you mean.... it's the piston and sleeve wearing into each other creating TONS of compression. I broke one in pretty easy with a pull start one day, roughly 6 tanks no problems.
Next day the pullstart was good for nothing but flinging the buggy across the yard. It took a very good starter box and lots of heat to get it started for the first time the next day.
