Ok I got my PCR built and I noticed that when I spin the rear wheels forward the front wheels turn but in reverse? what the hell? Also I didn't put any silicone fluid in my center diff cuz it cam e pre built. Should I have?

Help me !!

Jon

ok then How is it going to run when I start the engine? How do all the wheels spin the same direction?

Did you put the ring gear on the correct side on both front and rear diffs?

Without looking at my buggy for reference I can't say if this is correct or not but have you tried rolling the buggy on the ground? Does it move without any problems?

Not yet I am scared to strip gears. Should I give it a try anyways?

I put my diff in upside down with my Tmaxx when I was still very much a rookie, and it was funny to watch them try and fight each other, until I went DUUUUHHHHHHHHHHHHHH 8-0

It's either going to roll freely or not at all. I highly doubt you are going to strip any gears just by pushing it on some carpet.

Now if you fired the engine up and tried that might be a different story.

Go ahead and give it a try.

Ypu are telling me that the tires are supposed to spin towards each other?...No exp yet but that sounds questionable.

take your car and raise the front end...when you spin one wheel the other spins in the oposite direction. These diffs are no different that of your 1:1 car or 4wd truck. I do not have the techincal knowhow to explain exactly how it works but, from what i have seen in the past that is how it works. besides that is how my pcr is the front spins oposite of the rear.

I am talking about front wheels spinn toward the rear end or the rear wheels. I f I spin the rear wheels forward , the front wheels spin opposite towards the rear.

JESUS, just roll it on the carpet and tell us if it rolls smoothly.
It's not that hard to follow simple instructions.

If it doesn't roll smoothly, then one of your diffs is the wrong way around. (yes, do correct it before you run it)

If it DOES roll smoothly, it's fine, just that something may be binding elsewhere - example, spur. If the spur is stopped from spinning by something (tight gear mesh etc) then that center diff is going to be permanently engaged, hence when you turn one set of wheels (f or r) the other spins in the opposite direction.

Check the spur is free to spin smoothly, and if it is, get some oil in the center diff and give it a shot again. Should be fine.

Correct me if I'm wrong (I just got up) but i'm pretty sure thats how it is.

The center diff will allow you to roll the rear wheels one way while rolling the front wheels the other. We can get into specifics about the engineering of a diff, but just like the guys said, Put it on the ground and roll it. I have noticed that with fresh diff oil the wheels will spin in all kinds of weird directions in relation to the others. As the oil loosens up a bit, all the wheels will spin the same direction when spinning just one (sitting on box).

Uh, just for the sake of argument, say that one of the outer diffs is in wrong (ring gear on the wrong side). Won't rolling it on carpet still be smooth? Seems to me that it will, but the center diff spur will remain stationary. Therefor, Jon, when you turn the rear (or front) wheels, are you holding the center diff spur in one spot?

I just checked mine. If you hold the center diff spur in place and roll the rear forward with the front tires off the ground, the front tires will turn like they are in reverse.

So, roll the car with all 4 on the ground (engine off) and see if the center spur either moves (which means it's ok) or doesn't (means a diff is backwards somewhere).

I just talked to OFNA and they said that I shoud spin the spur gear clock wise and which ever diff be it front or rear, spins correctly, then you know that the one that spins wrong is the one that needs to be changed.

Did I confuse anyone there? Sorry if I did

Jon

Clockwise from what end? If you're looking from the rear toward the front, the center diff should rotate counterclockwise for the wheels to rotate like it's moving forward.

Hmmm this sounds funny. Think my buggy will do the same thing yours does homie. When you turn one side of the center diff the other side turns the other way. I think just roll it on carpet like other members have mentioned and you should be able to tell if it is binding bad or not.

OK you got me wrong I am talking about holding both rear wheels and rotating them forward. WHen I do this I notice the fronts are spinning in reverse.... I am going to check em right now.
