I am trying to breathe some life into my old HPI Nitro MT1. I have found quite a few parts for it across the globe but I have decided to slam it and do some local road racing with it.

Does anyone know where I can find aftermarket gear sets for this so I can gear it up a bit. I found the stock 52t spur gear on towers site but I can't find a smaller spur or a larger pinion gear and I need both. OR if someone has a compatible set I'd be happy to take it off your hands via paypal! I have no idea if the MT2 gears are the same but it's possible...

Thanks.

The MT2 gears will work with the MT1 tranny. Good luck with parts. I'm sure you know they arent easy to come by. Aside from some electric tray and configuration most of the drivetrain parts are interchangable.

Yep almost impossible to find. I had to order from another country for a-arms, but I did manage to find a stock 52t and a few different clutch bells so I grabbed them all lol. Thanks for the help, I knew a few parts were compatible but wasn't sure about the drive train. I will probably end up just doing the full conversion in the end, I just can't get rid of it lol. Thanks Phins Fan!

SO far I have converted to the hardened diffs., the HPI 3.0, installed the MT2 slipper (MT1 had NO slipper or at least mine didnt and just wrecked 3 sets of diffs like nothing lol), I got a set of aluminum MT2 a-arms and have not yet installed them, they look different but may work with some modding.

I even came across a "grab bag" of random MT parts on ebay cheap. That's one rare car these days but it still rips.

I had one a long time ago. Had a lot of middle chassis flex. I took a steel plate and mounted the engine/spur to it so it wouldn't flex so much and chew up spurs so often. Probably would have done well with a piece of aluminum instead, but steel is what I had at the time.

I miss that rig, but it was pretty fragile. I had wanted an MT2 but found someone selling the NMT cheap.

I don't have that issue, my issues have been annihilating my diffs because I put the 3.0 on it and the MT1 doesn't have a slipper. I did put the slipper from MT2 on, along with a few other parts, and I just put on the hardened heavy duty diffs at $30 a pop!

Problem is the heavy duty diffs don't quite fit right, too right in the diff housing so I'm hoping the plastic wears enough to allow for free movement lol, if not MT2 housings, Its like a hair too tight so well see!

Its a bad ass little truggy, wicked fast, handles decent, balanced well, its my all time fav. RC. I refuse to give up on it no matter the cost! I'll post up some pics tomorrow and some of the new parts going on it soon I just got. Its like the 69 Camaro of truggies lol. Way too expensive but fun to drive and people love to see it haha.

HPI MT 1 with partial conversion to MT2. As you can see it's the HPI .18, installed the MT2 slipper, hardened diffs, aluminum shock towers and shocks. I also installed an OFNA 125cc tank to compensate for the motor upgrade.

You can see I chopped off half of the plastic fuel tank holder.

I took a stock piece of aluminum and machined a new bracket to go around the other side of the tank, this tank is about 1/2" longer so it wouldn't fit of course.

It's still somewhat messy but I am still working on it.

Nice! That's a really clean install!

That tank is a great tank. I've been using them for years in t-maxx's and on savages. Very consistent running from full to empty.

Thanks. Just a hacksaw, metal file, dremel and some elbow grease. Well worth the trouble and fit nicely.

Yeah I've never used one but it was recommended, very happy with it. I would certainly use it again. Next I have to do some modifying of MT2 aluminum a-arms to fit them, will post those too. Yeah I could replace everything and it would fit right in but that's no fun lol

No mines shaft driven, you can see the pics above. Just an old MT1. Sounds like you have the RS4 which does share se parts with mine, but not all.

Anyone know what this thing would be worth? They are pretty rare and typically beat up really bad. I am getting a new SC10 and I simply don't have room for another, my back room is just loaded with RC stuff lol. I hate to leave it unfinished but I have no choice =(
