I'm a bit surprised about how hard it is to find an engine with rear exhaust, slide carb, and SG shaft to fit in such a popular car as the NTC3 from major manufactures such as OS.

Looking at the OS .12 TR, the SG shaft version is only available with rotary carb, so you would have to get the standard shaft to get the slide carb and cut it.

I've always liked the OS .12 TR(P) Turbo since it comes with the slide carb and is rated at 1.3hp, but it's only available with a pilot shaft crank:

After reading about various engines that fit the NTC3, I'm confused about pilot shaft style cranks. I have found posts recommending the OS .12 TR(P) Turbo for the NTC3 in this forum, even though it has a pilot shaft that supposedly won't fit the NTC3 without major modifications.

Looking at the specs for the NTC3 RTR AE .12 engine, it is listed on Tower Hobbies as a pilot shaft:

Maybe the Tower Hobbies information is incorrect, I'm not sure. Are there different types of pilot shafts?

Does anyone know for sure if the OS .12 TR(P) Turbo will fit in a NTC3, and if so, what will have to be done to make it fit?

Um, what's the difference between a "pilot shaft" (which i've never heard of) and a SG crankshaft?

Cuz if they're the same, all you need is a clutchnut and it'll bolt right up.

The threaded shaft will have to be cut...but that's not that hard.

That's the same as a clutch nut. That's for threaded cranks.

There's a clutchnut you have to buy for SG crankshafts, like the one that's the 12TR, it's like a 2 dollar part, once you have that, everything will bolt right up.
