So we got some afgrc servos. On these cars (4tec 2.0) the standard servo just fits. These were originally vxl5 cars, now bl2s. The esc doesn't quite fit between the motor and servo, but these servos are very needed. Has anyone ran into a similar problem? Alternative mounting for the bl2s ideas? Any help is appreciated. And btw, this is a spec class so i can't really just change the whole system unless i went back to the vxl5 setup. Thanks guys!

Yea I see space is limited in here.

Few things I would try to do, / some options.

1, get rid of the receiver box, double side tape the receiver on the servo, to make some space as the rx box is bulky
2, make a raised esc mount for clearance, although this would raise the CoG of the weight/car.
3, double side tape the esc in the battery tray, and running a Shorty style battery (if rules allow) but would need to make a different battery tie/hold down, or Velcro the battery in. Con: the weight of the esc, weight distribution might be off and handling might be different.

Edit, another option, the Traxxas escs do have screw holes on the side to screw them onto the chassis, you could Dremel those off the esc case, will make it a little less wide, but you need a esc mount/bracket/flat mounting spot to double side tape it too as the main chassis is a honeycone type design not a flat spot (and screw that mount onto the chassis), possible but time consuming.

i thought about cutting the tabs off, but if you look at the base of the esc, it isnt flat, so that is also a problem

Oh dang, totally forgot the bl2s wasn't flat like the VXL or XL5. Wonder why Traxxas designed the bl2s oddly like that.... 🫤

I mean, if you cut the tabs off the side, should be flat right? If so you can tape it down on its side to a flat esc mount/plate. Only possible way I think of it now. Thanks Traxxas 🤦 some mini RTRs with limited chassis space use a configuration like that. Edit: nvm it still won't be flat. Due to the case being a odd shape, not square or symmetrical.

That's all I can come up with, unless someone else chimes in with another new idea.
Personally I would go back to the XL5 Brushed bc of it's size, it's still the same speed as the BL2s maybe even just a smidge faster but it's more maintenance and upkeep to keep that same speed, because it is brushed.

The Bl2s probably doesn't fit on the 2.0 as it is shorter wheel base, and more condensed chassis, than the 3.0 which is longer wheel base, more chassis space therefore accepting the odd size/shape of the bl2s esc.(On the 3.0) Only way I can think about it.

This is why I kinda don't like box stock/spec rules/racing as there would be limitations that you would come across in the future with upgrading or trying to make it faster. When truly you can't make the car faster, you have to make yourself faster. (Ie, practice, consistency is key, slow is fast) this goes for any racing technically but it's more recognized in box stock/RTR classes. Where going into tech and passing is a huge thing.
(turn left to go right, cars reference lol)
