I just finished this one for a guy at RCNT. The color was supposed to be purple but the spaz stix hard anno color "Purple Dynamite" was more of a reddish purple than a true deep purple. The bed is done in carbon fiber and the windows are tinted with spaz stix tint. I was not able to finish it since Chris did not send the grille, and light decals, but I figured I would show you guys anyway. I think the color actually looks bad ass in person, but it was real hard to capture with flash.

Yes he is.

Nice job!

Thanks for the compliments guys.

BigJay, actually spaz stix does make a few different color glow in the dark paints. I have never tried any of the though so I have no idea how well they work.

I would love to see some glow in the dark flames.

If you don't mind me asking, About what would it run to get a body with the flames and metal flake?

Well I have shot a few bodies with the spaz stix glow paints and they actually work really well. especially with a 3 or 4 light coats of the white backing. That looks superb NCNitro

May have wanted more purple but I'd sport that body EN Knee day on my ride.
I really want to learn to do the carbon fiber. I know theres templates, is that what you use? Like the ones for the true fire?

And I am a huge fan of the liquid mask, how bout you NCNitro?

I use a ton of liquid mask, just not on a body like this, I use the Bob Divelys. The trick is to put down like 3-4 heavy coats. The first time I used it I did not and fought with it for hours getting it off, I swore I would NEVER use it again, but when I found out what I did wrong I gave it another go, and now I love the stuff.

Carbon fiber is not difficult, I use that rubbery shelf/drawer liner stuff. I just find one with the perfect size holes, cut a piece big enough to cover the area I want to be carbon fiber, then shoot silver through it. Give it a min to set up, lift the liner off then just back it with pearl charcoal. It's really pretty easy, give it a try.

sweet i have wanted to try that forever. I will post up some pics once I finally do.
Thanks for sharing that!!

Looking good.....again.

rc nitro what would you recomend me buying if i wanted to do something like that. i dont have an air gun or any knowledge of painting but i would like to do like a simple black with maby a pin stripe. any suggestions on a paint gun and what kind of paints good to use? thanks

In order to do something like this, you must use an airbrush. I use a dual action Iwata HP-CS gravity feed brush. But you can get a cheaper dual action brush, but I recommend gravity feed over syphon feed. You will also need a compressor with a moisture trap and pressure regulator. I just use my Craftsman 6 gal pancake compressor.

But for a simple black with a pinstripe you can do that with rattlecans. Just ge some parma paint masking tape the width of the stripe you want. Lay down your stripe, spray the black, peel up the tape stripe and spray the stripe color, then back it all.

As far as paints, my favorite air brush paints are Pactra Acryl, and Spaz Stix. You can also use Parma Faskolor, but it is not as user friendly as Pactra. For rattle cans you can use Pactra or Tamiya for polycarbonate.

Do you run RC's or just paint them?

Yes, I run them too. I also build them from scratch, not a kit, but actually make the entire truck. Heres a list of my current rigs...

HPI Savage SS
2 - Traxxas T-Maxxes
Traxxas Stampede
HPI RS4 3
Ofna Hyper 7 PCR Pro
Jeep Tuber Scale Trail truck
Axial AX10 Scorpion
Losi XXX-NT
Custom Ricky Charmichael Dirt Bike
Tamiya Jeep Wrangler CC-01
Several other scale truck projects in the works too

I still need a short course truck, and a 5th scale :D

Dude that is a sick body.

I use a Campbell Hausfeld 5 Gallon compressor combo with a moisture trap to catch any of the moisture built up in the tank. It's not the quietest thing in the world, but it works. If I'm doing say two or three bodies at a time, I'll cut my Bob Dively's liquid mask down with some water and shoot it on with an old single action Paasche H airbrush. It takes about 6 or 7 coats that way, but it coats a lot more evenly, making it easier to cut or trim designs and whatnot. If I'm just doing a simple body, I brush on about 4 heavy coats and be done with it. I know what you mean about having it too thin. One night I decided I would try spraying on only 2 or 3 coats, yeah...I gave up and sprayed on a few more so I could finally peel it off. It has to be so thick before it comes off easily.
