Funny When I got my DX5 I thought the stock radio felt more responsive. 🤔 The only reason I bought the DX5 was the number of models it can store, and I was still a newbie and didn't know of any others.
I bought the DX4 for the throttle return for nitro.
If things (like return springs) didn't break, I wouldn't feel it was necessary either.
That freaking Jato was just so fast!
Bang someone up good on a full throttle runaway so it was a no brainer for me.
Still haven't actually tested it either! 🤣

Sorry, I had a bit of a hiatus the last few days. I haven't read through this thread, but just to get some input going here...

I am sure David has given his input on the Radiolink stuff. And while I don't have one myself, I did do some digging around the web about them, and based on what I read about them, I wouldn't buy a Radiolink radio if they were half price. I read numerous horror stories about their customer service, and folks having their RC cars run away and smash into curbs and such. No way I would ever take a chance on them. If you have one and love it, great. But I would not recommend them.

The Flysky stuff is great for every budget. The GT3 is a very inexpensive radio, and I have nothing but love for mine. Good range, cheap receivers, and they work great for every day bashing. If you need more channels, check out the GT5 for a few bucks more. Then they have their flagship surface radio in the Flysky NB4+. More money, but folks who have them seem to love them.

If racing is your thing, grab a Radiomaster MT12 with the ELRS module built in. The ELRS systems out there are boasting some absolutely ridiculous range (heard about a drone that was still getting signal over 60 miles away). And the latency and such with the ELRS stuff is on par with Sanwa's finest radio's. It does have a steep learning curve if you want to get into the advanced stuff the radio can do, but there are tons of videos popping up for the MT12 all the time.

You can also add an optional external 4in1 module to the radio that will allow the radio to bind with just about any receiver. Or you can just grab the MT12 with the built-in 4in1 module and add an external ELRS module later if you want to run with the big boys.

All around, if I were just starting out in RC, and was looking for a radio I can use with any of my RC's, I would definitely grab the Radiomaster MT12. There isn't a more versatile and capable radio out there for the $130 they are asking for it. That, and for $130, you get a LOT of radio.

I got a kick out of this..

AND $15 receivers!! That's a big selling point right there! One of the reasons I don't care for the Spektrum radios is the $50 receivers..

You know the saying, "Win on Sunday, sell on Monday." It will be interesting to see as time goes on how many MT12s will make their way up to the driver's stands.

I do know it, and have seen it work. What's missing is sponsorship, that's the gimmick.
I'm certainly not saying Futaba or Sanwa aren't top performers, but I'm sure not paying for the pro's free radios. They should buy their own.
Like putting Goodyears on my DD, not happening, even IF I could afford to.

Big reason why I don't own, or gift any NFL/NHL/NBA/ etc merchandise. Those folks have all the money they need without any of mine.

When I was a kid, I could pick a random tuesday night, hop on the train and buy Bruin's tickets, good seats and ride back home for under $25!!!
If I bought a sausage and a drink from "the sausage guy" it was closer to $35.
Great times! I used to go a lot!
I can't even get a look at the outside of the Garden for under $35 now! 🤣
Truth. I've never stepped foot in the "New" Boston Garden.
Concert tickets went from 30-40-50 to $150+
Insanity imo.
Honestly, when the screen writers and actors strike happened, I thought, oh good! One less thing!
Screw them too!
I can't believe ppl are paying $30/ticket to get stuck to soda syrup soaked floors and sit in someone else's seat for 2 hours.
