I am in desperate need of a good charger. There are too many to choose from and too many features. I would like it to be able to charge both my rx packs and my electric car packs. What should I get? My top two are these969 or triton

I have the 969 and am very happy with it.

I recommend the triton, it is the most versatile charger for the money. I am real happy with mine. Just make good charger leads, and use deans plugs on your car packs. If you stay with tamiya plugs on your car packs, the charger is prone to faulse peak.

I've never heard this before. How do Tamiya plugs cause false peaking?

What about Sermos power pole connectors? Are they much better than tamiya connectors?

Gil, tamiya plugs can have poor contact, and at high charge currents the connections have intermittent changes in resistance, fooling the charger into thinking the pack is going up and down in voltage. I know, becasue I just went through some hassle to figure it out:

Changing everything to deans solved the problem. Then I actually had overcharging, so I had to lower the delta peak voltage to 6 mv.

I'll be getting a 969 charger within the next few weeks. It's great value with a lot of features. And I love how you can charge two battery packs at one time...definitely something nice to have when at the track.
