OK guys wanted to share this with you.
I work phone sales at a mailorder BMW parts/accessories company. We have calls ranging from from a hood badge sale to a $4500 wheel and tire package to a stupid tech call that gets you nowhere.

So I gets this call the other day from a "gentleman" from "somewhere".

He's driving a 99 BMW 540i, nice car sight unseen, and says he needs a new amp for the stock stereo. Its got the "DSP" sound system which means the amp is about 1200 and needs to be "coded" by the dealer.

He says "hell i'll have to call you back about that but i have another question."

"There are these two black boxes hanging under the rear deck. When you pop the trunk and look inside there these boxes making these weird buzzing sounds."

I said "sir those black boxes are your rear speakers."

I have actually had folks call up saying that their cup holder.. aka CD Rom drive is not working.

Some folks just never cease to amaze me.

Great story.

Tom

Ssshhhh...yea Bavauto. Why was it you that called about the amp Jetmech? LOL I thought you had a 3 series!

I work at a plant nursery in a very old money rich area of illinois and had a lady walk in and ask if the potted herbs we sold were organic. I just turned around and walked away without saying a word.

Just remember the biggest drink these cup holders will support will hold is the 44 oz. Any bigger and they collapse. I had to replace one under warranty a number of years back....

The cup holders on my computers are still working just fine.

I always get a kick out of the folks that email the helpdesk saying that their floppy thingy isn't working. Still kills me every time.

Stupid questions

I went into a local coffee/donut shop for some breakfast this morning, if any of you have ever been to Maine or New England for that matter you'll recognize the name Dunkin Donuts. I pulled up to the drive thru and ordered "2 regular glazed, 2 chocolate glazed". Imagine my wonder when from the speaker she says "large or small" I said "Ma'am do you sell chocalte glazed coffee because I just wanted some donuts". She was a little embarassed.
WHERE DO THEY FIND THESE PEOPLE?!?!?!?!?!?!?

I work in an IT department.... dont get me started on the questions I get on a daily basis. But some of the more memorable ones are:

"When I change the font on my document it prints differently... can you fix it so it prints the same all the time?"
----------------------
Customer: "Everytime I leave my office my computer turns off."
Me: "Are you sure your not shutting it down?"
Customer: "Even if I dont touch the computer, when I walk into the room it turns on, when I walk out it turns off."
~~after a full day of trying to help over the phone we send a tech out the next day and find that his computer it plugged into a wall socket that is tied to a light switch...turn off the lights, off goes the computer too~~
----------------------
Old school serial connection between a VT100 dumb terminal and a Unix box:
Customer: "When I'm in a document I sometimes get X's and Z's, and sometimes other characters, but usually X's and Z's just appearing on the screen. It doesn't happen all the time. Usually it happens when I'm not even touching the keybord."
~~After three WEEKS of checking port settings, swapping ports, swapping cables, new keyboard, new terminal(s), re-routing cables away from interference, it would always go away for a while and come back again. None of the techs onsite could figure it out. Finally we get a call from the manager telling us we can close the trouble ticket they found the problem. Apparently this woman is VERY well endowed (Later found out she was an "H" cup) and she had re-arranged her desk right before this started happening and now has to reach a bit further for things like her pens and phone and such. As she did so her boobs would press against the kayboard causing the characters to appear on the screen. She has never called back to talk to us ever again. She has someone else call on her behalf. lol
