Full disclosure, my Hyper 8 was the first 1/8 nitro buggy I owned back in 2005ish, and it was THAT clean, and I don’t have a SINGLE photo of it… I actually bought it in as good, or better condition than the two in the above shots, and hit up my longtime brother of another mother out in Cali for these pics, as he’s an even bigger old school, RC Old Head, OFNA/Hobao/Hong Nor nerd than I am lol.. He’s still got everything he had from 20yrs ago, and I had him shoot some pics for me specifically for a “favorite RC thread” on another forum as I knew I didn’t have but a couple photos of my Tazer, and NONE of my infamous Hyper 8.. And being we BOTH are crazy anal about maintaining our stuff, and keeping them super nice when not beating them to death, ANNNNND, I bought both my Hyper 8, and my Titanium chassis Tazer PRT from him, and we remain friends to this day-it’s not exactly “stolen valor”…

The Tazers pictured above were some ALUMINUM chassis renditions he did, while mine wasn’t AS “blinged out” (I did mine to beat on like a red headed stepchild

), it was still super nice, and also was one of the VERY few he put out with the Titanium “Tazer PRT” chassis.
Here’s a photo of mine (note the chassis

) on its maiden voyage run with a HIGHLY modified AB Mods STS .30, and Tsais Truggy pipe on O’Donnell 30%… The 100k fluid in the center diff didn’t stand a chance… Clearly these were some garbage Panther open cell foam MT tires as well though… I was actually one of the first to modify 3.8’s to fit the Losi XXT 4.0 wheels.. 20yrs ago… Then evvvvvvveryone started doing it, and 4.0 tires became the standard..
I actually found a set of the OG “Losi XXT ONLY” Panther Gators a year ago by accident.. So I cut the beads, prepped, and cleaned them, and mounted them onto the newer “buggy style bead 4.0” wheels. I shot some photos of the process, since not many people have ever done this, or HAD to, lol..

And here’s a few photos of one of my old BCE Chassis Mugen Prospec’s that I modified a set of Panther Gator 3.8’s to work on the absolutely KILLER lookin’ (IMO) brand new (at the time) JConcepts “Rulux” 4.0” spoked wheels.. The profile was sooooo perfect, and they worked KILLER.. I wish today’s offerings looked/worked as well…
And these were the “new” 4.0” Proline Bow Tie’s mounted up on my freshly released Losi 8ight T… The difference between these, and the modified Panther Gators in 3.8’s is pretty obvious here.. Granted-they we’re STILL night and day better than the previous only available truggy offering of the 3.8 “MT” tires on 3.8 MT wheels… Truggies had not been out long at all, at the time..
