Great shots Josh! Thought I'd mention something that might be worth looking into. I'm getting ready to buy a really nice camera, something along the lines of a Canon 40D . It's not the best there is, but for what I need and what I can spend, it's really nice for me. I want to be able to use it when I get it, or it wont be worth spending the money. A good friend of my step-dad's is into semi-pro photography, does a lot of micro photography and things like that so that he can use them in his photoshop artwork. Anywho, he reccomended a WONDERFUL book to me, and I have learned A LOT from it. I got it from BooksA-Million, but most book stores will have them. It's a text book for a photography class, and it teaches you how to take good pictures from the time that you take out the camera until you start on it in photoshop. It teaches lighting and exposure settings, how to take night shots, action shots, close ups, and about any other kind of shots. It also teached you how to adjust the camera to capture the expression in a shot, more movement, less movement, etc... as well as teaching how to set up the camera for the light you have, instead of trying to find the right light for the way the camera is set. That coupled with the user manual from the camera will really explain how a lot of advanced settings work and how to make changes to achieve what you want the picture to express.
