I was wondering if it would be at all possible to make the Display Screen Backlit? its a pain in the butt to read in bright sunlight and i know a backlit screen would make it a LOT easier to read. If it is possible what type of setup would i need to use.

I can't make a promise but I have seen a thread some where where someone did it to a 3r I think. I'll try to find it. Should be able to just a fairly dim led for it.

Not sure that even a backlit screen is going to help you at all in the sun. At dusk or dawn... maybe, but in direct sunlight, due to the type of screen they used, lighting it probably won't help.

Thats a good point Olds. You need more of a shade maker for the display.

yes you can, i have done it on mine. yuo need to look for el panel and find one that comes with an inverter. then i just ran power from the on/off switch to another push button switch so i cou turn it on and off. you need to take apart the screen and remove the backing. then just cut the el panel to fit and wire it up. i will post some pics tommorow of mine.

Hey now...why you lookin at the radio while you're driving? No wonder you crash so much! ;-)

I don't crash. . .(much), but i have the telemtery on there and i would like to see what they say so i don't blow my engine up

If you could get some pics up of that i would love to see it

I bought the DX3R to stay away from the telemetry. It would be useful for tuning initially, but if you have to stare at your engine temps....your tune is probably off ;-)

you have a good point, but i am getting ready to put a new engine on my revo, and also on my RS4, and i want to make sure my temps are spot on during the break in

How to:
1 pull apart the transmitter and remove the screen.
2 Peal back the foil on the back of the screen and clean off the adhesive by run the
screen under warm water and then let it dry, push the adhesive towards the center.
rewarm if needed.
3 Cut the el sheet to fit and reassemble the entire screen.
4 drill a hole for the second switch. i did it next to the specktrum logo.
5 Run power and ground from the main switch to the the second switch.
6 Follow the diagram on the back of the box, you have to run a jumper as
shown in the picture to make it work.
7 connect the rest of the wires to the switch. TEST BEFORE SOLDERING.
8 if everything works, solder all connection and and reassemble the transmitter.

FINALLY DO NOT BLAME ME IF YOU MESS UP

Its our strongest and weakest link all at the same time...Like the parents always said if it aint broke dont fix it...but in all reality i would have never got to where i am now if i hadnt

oh amen to that mobile........hell, if i didnt rip my revo to pieces the day after i bought it used, i wouldn't have a darn clue how it all worked.

Funny how in such situations one never consults the destruction, sorry i mean INstruction manual. :hehe:

What's an instruction manual? I've always thought of them as a last resort! j/k
