That sux! I won't ask... But if you run your old piston in a new sleeve, you will have to replace both again when you rebuild again.

Also, not quite sure how that happened if you were too rich unless it was crazy rich. I will read the whole story if you take the time to type it all out. I am Def curious to know what happened and how.

Well before i was to anxious to run my car just to start it up it was running fine until i accelerated didnt mean to but i reved really high and alot too much and pop death of my car .i wanted to see it shift and it sure did ,mistakes happen and this is a little expensive one since i gotta buy a rod and piston

Gotcha... Ok, I am gonna guess that you were likely running too high an rpm before break-in was complete which was directly responsible for the damage. I can't be sure but running rich wouldn't likely be the culprit unless it was TOO rich, like it was DUMPING fuel in. It was likely too lean and not getting enough fuel (which is also your engine's lubricant and coolant) Too lean also gets rpms high, too high sometimes, also a possible cause of the high rpms. Please, no more testing or running at high rpms AT ALL until the motor is broken in properly. I can't stress enough just waiting to buy another piston and sleeve New and going thru it all once... But then again, it's always easy for me to spend someone else's money!
Good luck with whatever you do!

You can check A- main hobbies or Tower hobbies if they have a rod.
I think that the 12's an 15's are the same ,the Ofna brands are ,but don't know
if Ofna fits the AE brand!

I have the rods!

I took one of my 12's apart ,the rods appear to be the same length .the ofna rod seems to be a tad more
beefier than the AE ,however there is a slight difference were the wrist pin is at on one side of the piston.
The hole on the AE pist is smaller, the ofna the wrist pin hole are the same size on both sides of the pist.

I'm not taking the rods off an taking a chance to hurt my 12!
I will show pics shortly ,I have to charge the cam battery...
You are more than welcome to just have the AE 15 pist/rod if you want it ,I can send it!..:D

Heres the pics ,
Conclusion of my take ,is they are the same other than the Ofna rod is a little bit more thicker at the bottom ,may
need to be filed down to fit the block at the bottom.Other than that ,they look to be the same.
Sorry about the fuzzy pic ,my camera doesn't fair too well on the shiny stuff.

I read that in pullstart applications the rod may need to be filed down for clearance on the backplate... I didn't really follow the thread or how it worked exactly. I didn't pay much attention to it... Maybe it was relevant. Anyways, awesome info to store away. Thanks @cbaker65 !!!

The brass bushing is the same size ,its the aluminum material that may need some filing so it
don't hit the bottom of the block casing,it depends if the casing is channeled enough!

Ok. Again, I didn't really follow the point of the post exactly... He didn't make it clear as to what part of the rod needed to be dremel'd out.. Either way, very cool for you to offer @James NTC3 your excess stock!

Lol...Still might have to be ,not sure!

Also ,I realized that I have 3 Ofna 12's an a 12 Dynamite engine also ,I think that I have an
xtra whole AE 15 engine ,have to go look!....I don't know what I have anymore!....DOH...

It's all good til you start losing whole cars! Extra motors are always a good thing! Look at it like this, you will have constant surprises adding just a lil more fun to the rc addiction!!!
