My second RC after Kyosho Sandmaster (what got me into RC's) was a Brushless Electric Rustler.
Great car, just pissed me off as it just wheelies all the time, too much power.
This is where Traxxas nitro Slash brings the balance, almost a Rustler, but not quite an does not raise its front wheels, but is just as fast, because essentially its a Rustler with a a slightly longer chassis.
Love my Nitro Slash, which I ironically haven't fired up in over a year.
Didnt know you had a nitro slash.
This is HUGEEEE. THANK YOU! @Chubaka You are awesome!
Glad to help. That johnnydmd is the guy to talk to as he did it in the linked thread.

I have nitros too, I do like the sound and smell of nitro but electric is more in my wheelhouse just because of my general interest in batteries and electronics. I only posted that to illustrate that Rsutlers in general can go quite fast. :)
I appreciate you shining in on Rustler being fast, because they are! I feel Jato and TMaxx get all the attention when it comes to speed... That's why I wanna put the 2 speed tranny on my rustler to make it sort of a sleeper hahah

Will definitely contact him once the tranny is here so I can set everything up 😁👍 super excited for it!

Same here. I'm thinking of a trx pro.15 in my nitro slash with the jato 2 speed. Looking forward to your build as I'm having a lack of investors. 🤣

Never actually used a trx pro. 15 is that bigger or smaller than the 2.5? & lol I got you ill post every step of the way 👍 also check for stuff on ebay you can probably find a cheap used tranny 🤷‍♂️

.15 is the smallest. 2.5 is middle. The 3.3 is the largest. The 3.3 is 3.3 cubic centimeters or around .18 cubic inch or .19ci I want to say. The .15 is a .15 cubic inch.

Some engines go by cc, and some go by ci. Alot better then the lawn mower engune rating scale.

Lawn motor engine scale, according to my late father was... Briggs - yup. Kohler - F no. And Tecumseh - wtf is wrong with you? Whenever someone brought him a Kohler or Tecumseh to work on, the price went way up just because he hated them so much lol.

I understand tecumseh. I had a gocart motor and she had vad valve issues. The tecumseh carbs were an easy fix.

I used alot of briggs on many brands up to 7.25 torque. Not a bad motor. Had a 20 some horse kholer on the work mower. Not too bad considering the low yards mowed, getting stuck and wedged and tall grass and brush mowing. My Stihl pressure washer has a Kholer. I love it. Going full throttle to idle sounds like a two stroke detroit diesel. 😁

Also had a kawasaki 16 horse. A good motor also. I want one on my toro push mower next.

I can talk motors all day. 😎😊

Thanks for clarifying that for me I only know the basics, I was thinking after I set up the new tranny to put a .26 picco engine on it, since I saw it at a comparable price to the trx 3.3 engine but idk if that would fit a Rustler...

If you do order it and it doesn't fit, you can get the basic nitro slash chassis parts cheap from Jennys RC. It should fit that, and be more stable.

I would try a .21 motor or even os .18. Those were popular .

Yep, I do. And no EZ start business too...
I haven't used it in well over a year, should fire it up, as I always thing front bearing will go bad if not lubed on a reg basis.

So today was a great day outside (92°) and since I'm still waiting on the new tranny to arrive I decided to break my 58mph record with the current tune I have. I think it would have been a success if I had 2.2" tires instead of 2.8" as the tires ballooned hitting the 57mph range and popped a wheelie loosing complete control and hitting a pole...
Luckily I only lost some wheel bearings and the nut that holds the tire..
Quick question, does anyone know the size of the nut for the front tires? I realized they're different than the rear tires..
Thanks in advance!

You know everything! Haha that's awesome thank you!
2004 to 2011 was all traxxas rwd electric and nitro. My old hobby shop used to tell me go grab what I need behind the counter. You just got lucky with a car I know my way around. 😊

Well I appreciate it, I honestly can't wait for the new tranny to come in so I can get to it already 🤘

Transmission is finally here along with a few parts ! Super excited to start this project but already have a problem.
The tranny came without the screws that go underneath it. Could someone that already owns or knows the size of these screws help me out? That would be awesome...
Today is a rainy day so I'm going to start sizing up the platform in which the tranny will fit into, I'll keep you guys updated...
