I just started running this slayer I just bought its used with 3.3 motor

I replaced the pull start (broken when I bought it)

Now I am having fun with the truck but shuts off mid run.\
(I have not seen a patern just shuts off It then will fire right back up and run then die. )

Also the pull start was getting stuck out (thats what was wrong with the first one then I turn the motor over a few times and it sucks it back up) any Ideas whats going on?

Frustrated can seem to run it very long but when it is running Its a blast.

As far as tuning I am no expert its running fast and I have a smoke during acceleration so I hope I am not running it lean and overheating but I dont know my temps and that s what I am afraid of.

Your gonna have to get a temp gun judging by smoke isn't accurate enough and it sounds like your over heating your engine and vapor locking

ok well i will have to find the stock needle setting and go from there now my pull start only works half the time (gets stuck out) so I think I am going to buy new fuel. fuel line, and return to stock needles setting hopefully it works

I have to say that a $25 temp gun purchase is great insurance for a rig that costs over 100$, and a new engine for that will run you at least $100. I wouldn't run without one.

This is what I use.

This one probably works just as well its about 4 bucks cheaper. Personally I know first hand the top link is a gun gun I've had mine for abotu 2.5 years now So I would suggest you spend the extra 4 bucks and get that one but the duratrax is probably ok also if you're on an extremely tight budget.

thanks

thanks it should ship soon and now I feel better about it (not having to guess) I have had trouble with this truck it seems I get it running but just shuts off I was trying to tune it today no luck I am over it maybe gonna sell it and get a sc electric truck

You stated the engine was used- hows the compression/ pinch? Typically, when the compression(due to loss of "pinch") is low, the engine will die as it gets hot. Sounds a bit like what is happening in your situation. To test the pinch- take out the glow plug and rotate the engine using the flywheel. When the piston gets to the top of the stroke, is it harder to turn, or does it rotate around the cycle freely? If yours does the latter, the pinch has relaxed and the cylinder will need to be resized or replaced. If you decide to resize it (OSROCKET, RayARacing, and others) it is really not that hard to do.

Pullstarter not sucking up the cord- take it apart(carefully- DO NOT UNWIND THE SPRING!!) find the "one-way" bearing and either replace it or soak it in parts cleaner (paint thinner, laquer thinner, etc will work but are flammable), blow it out w/ a air compressor and LIGHTLY relube it w/ bearing oil. Make sure you have it going the right direction, make sure nothing is binding inside and reassemble.

wow it just spins free never seems to get harder if the glow glug is out when I put it back in and spin it it really takes effort almost harder than ever now so can you tell me what I should do
I picked this thing up and now I know I got ripped off but you win some you loose some
I am glad I didnt list it on ebay or something and screw someone over

thanks for your help

now when i put the low plug back on I can't even budge the flywheel what the heck

Sounds like the glow plug is making contact with the top of the piston? is that possible? Check to see if there is any foreign objects in the cylinder.
