Nitro dieing off...

I would like to have one nice electric. But every time I start looking and then add in the batteries I end up buying another Nitro. The 1/8th scale electrics plus batteries are pricey. I have been wanting an Arrma Senton but I ended up buying the Kyosho FO-XX.
 
My engine has an ez-start :)

Technically, isn't every car electric to a certain extent?

Do any of you race? Or just bash?

I don't race ,wished I could.

I had electric stuff back in the day,but my wife complained about the electric bill from
charging so much ,so finally cut rc loose for awhile until I got into nitro.

I wanted to check out the lipo seen an see what the craze was all about ,an thought it would
be nice to have one around if I ever ran out of fuel or didn't feel like breakin out my nitro's.
So I built this ,LOL......Didn't last long!...

I started with electric. Got out of the hobby a while, got back in with a used nitro, swore off nitro, got electric, then got a couple more used nitros, and I'm hooked. I'm actually trying to trade my Castle system for a Nitro rig. But I still have 4 electrics.
 
I've got a nitro-powered generator to charge the batteries for my electrics....

For the most part the electrics and nitros are the exact same rigs with different drivelines, so how would a nitro truck be "tougher" than an electric? Its all the same parts.

I'm sure we all feel the same that you definitely don't see hardly any nitro in hobby stores anymore and it's definitely not being pushed. It's not for everybody but i can tell you that when I show up at the track all of the dads with there electrics get angry because the kids want to see my nitro. They don't notice the torque or the speed or how high they're jumping all they know is that my car is cooler than everyone else's and because it's louder they think it's much faster.
If I was trying to go really fast I would be doing 1/1 vehicles but I'm playing with toy cars so I'm more interested in how cool and fun it is as much as how fast it's going.

Yeah and if electric was so great they wouldn't be using Top Fuel Nitro drag race cars. Combustion engines are way more powerful than electric ones. On demand power and TQ figures don't win races, drivers do. I learned that lesson the hard way.

Provide proof of your statement about combustion engines vs electric motors being more powerful. As of now, its opinion.


Add the weight of a Nitro buggy onto an electric motor and you'll have a slow piece of crap. Electric isn't better or faster... It's just different.

Again...... For the most part they are the exact same rigs minus the drivesystem. Your personal hatred (for some reason) towards electric rigs is blinding you to facts. Fact: Traxxas 3.3 motor has a Maximum RPM of 30,000. A 5,700kv motor being pushed with a 3s lipo (11.1v) is pushing 63,270. On the same size gearing, the brushless will go more than twice the speed of the nitro. Thats just fact.

Oh and that Tesla is an absolute joke. Bring one to Bithlo Speedway in Orlando and watch it get blasted off the track.

But she doesn't complain about the cost of nitro fuel? Where I live, charging is a helluva lot cheaper than fuel. Not to mention, you still have to charge up RX packs and radio batteries, or buy them, one of the two.

I never said it was tougher or did I say they were made of different parts, Mr. Logic man. The reason is because a Nitro rig is much heavier so when there's an impact the lighter vehicle normally takes a harder bump. Get it??
Doh! Yeah, that's pretty basic science but I guess you didn't learn that.

I know an electric provides more torque but the simple fact is I beat them all the time on the track, so no you won't convince me with your Traxxas information. You want me to show you my footage of it? Its not hard to find. I've posted plenty of footage (Proof) of my stuff on here. Where's yours? Yeah, you just like to troll and sound smart don't you. You don't like to actually show anything, right.

Now back to R/C.. Nitro will beat electric on the jump but the electric will win in the stretch during a drag race. I've done it a hundred times. On average I race about 5 different electric vehicles a weekend so I know what's up with electric stuff. And no I don't hate electric. I pretty much think it sucks exactly the way I think John Cena sucks, in other words I don't take it that seriously.

Mustang 500 GT, Camaro SS, Corvette, Charger and any other will beat it. It's not a fast car.

Well, firstly, we're comparing an american muscle car to a luxury electric saloon with autopilot, auto parking, auto lane changing and auto steering- so straight from the bat it's not exactly a good comparison. In specs, the top of the range 2015 Tesla Model S P90D has:
-532HP
-713LB/FT torque
-2.8 Sec 0-60MPH
For a base price of a 2015 model it is: $119,200
For the full fat balls to the wall super duper space ship version it's: $134,200
Virtually silent, very nice interior- it's a luxury vehicle.

And then the 2016 Mustang 500GT (This is the unreleased 5.2l version):
-526HP
-429LB/FT torque
-4.5 Sec 0-60MPH
For a base price it is:
-$36,395
-Unkown full fat price, not released

So, on paper, the Model S is a better performing, more luxurious car, however is more expensive- which is expected, since it includes carbon fiber everything.

I cannot find any drag races between the two that are fair. In the ones I did find, the Tesla was not the highest specced one, and the Mustangs were all highly modified. In those ones, the Tesla smoked the Mustang for the first 3/4 of the track, and then the mustang just pulled in front in the last second. This is due to the fact that the Tesla has nearly 300lb/ft of torque more, it is electric, and they have more instant torque, end of.
The Tesla is a fast car, it beats most if not all american stock muscle cars due to it's torque, however it is a luxury saloon, and is more expensive. It's not a fair comparison or a useful one. Although, for the value, the mustang is an amazing car and sounds better than the tesla any day- so personally I'd choose that, however also have the tesla as a long journey car.

Yeah I see where this is going, I guess you didn't read the post. I spoke of Top Fuel combustion being more powerful than electric engines and he said to prove it, So there's 10,000 HP of Nitro proving it. I just filmed that at the Gator Nationals by the way.
Electric cars are fast there's no doubting that and they are easier and quicker for beginners to compete with but the playing field is still pretty even when you get a Nitro and an electric R/C on the track together.
Personally I don't post a lot of footage of the actual races I compete in because I don't want the guys I'm racing with to feel like I'm just trying to make them look bad or prove them wrong. I've won and I've lost against Nitro and Electric but I speak from my own experiences and not just my opinions. I don't regurgitate paper stats nor do I care about them. I put my wheels on the ground and let my hard work do the talking and if I lose I go back to the garage and come back stronger next time.
I would love to race all of you if I could and you could bring out whatever you want. It's all done for fun.
I'll say it again... If I wanted to really race cars and go fast I'd be on the real drag strip where there are currently no electric cars that can keep up. I'm talking about cars that are running the 1:4 Mile in under 7 seconds. Pro gas, Alcohol and Nitro race cars are where the real speed is at.

Your posting of a video of a TopFuel drag race shows nothing at all.

A side by side comparison of a two rigs (say an hpi savage 4.6 and a savage flux) loaded ready to go, the nitro savage weighs in at 12lbs and a flux weighs in at just under 16 lbs. so wrong on that one.

As for my "traxxas information" being wrong..... Do explain. One electric motor is running more than double the rpm than the nitro counterpart, then with the same gearing, how is the electric not going twice as fast when in reality..... It is spinning twice as fast. I don't have to prove it. The science and math proved it for me. I'm sorry you cannot grasp the concept, but just because you do not understand it, that doesn't make it false.

It's comical that you believe that a nitro is faster off the line than a nitro. That is basically the definition of torque when relating to vehicles. The only way that a nitro will beat a brushless rig off the line is if the electric breaks its wheels loose.

I'm not here to give my opinion. Everything tha I have stated is 100% proven fact. I am all for nitro and electric rigs. I have owned several rigs in each.

As for the 1:1 comparison, ninnon just gave you the manufacturers tested numbers and even in the full size, electric is quicker. There is no arguing with that.
