This car is a major... well, pita....

Step one: Buy car...

Step two: Realize that the EZ-start system sucks when the bearing goes out.

Step three: Replace bearing, and ez-start with pull starter.

Step four: gear for more acceleration

Step five: replace everything with aluminum and graphite

Step six: replace stock TRX motor with O.S. CV-RX .15

Step seven: replace all belts, at least four times.

Step eight: replace all gears, at least twice.(including planetary drive gears.)

Step nine: Sell car on eBay for 1/4 what you paid for everything done to it.

Anyone else having problems with Nitro 4 tecs?

Shoulda got a ntc3...they own

BTW, i consider my ntc3 the car that I really learned how to work on. I blew parts like you wouldn't believe just because of bad installations. On my two-speed housing, for like a month, i didn't screw the screws in enough so it ended up stripping out and i had to keep buying a new housing. I managed to buy out the store.

Also, i blew spur gears at least every couple of days cuz of bad meshing or not tightening the engine down enough.

I used to tighten down the screws that attach the motor mount to the chassis too much and had to constantly dremel them out.

And I went through tires a lot.

I probably spent way more than the car was worth just on parts.

But now it's all evened out and i'm pretty good and fixing the car. I hardly ever break anything. Worn out head every now and then, that's about it. Although my spur gears are gonna need replacing soon, i'm just waiting for them to crap out completely.

I did learn some good ways to save money like not buying a lot of screws from the hobby shop but rather a place that almost strictly sells screws. I once bought 70 bucks worth of screws from the hobby shop but coulda bought it for probably less then 10 bucks elsewhere

I use to have the 4tec also. That car give me a lot of problems, it was in the pit most of the time than racing. A few people had luck with them, so they like the car. I owned it for 2 week and sold it for the best I could. I paid about 280, I got less than half of that, 130....:eyepatch: I just took off the EZ start from the beginning, I didn't want to deal with it. The tank also sucks, it has leaks no matter what, I just end it and sold it.

I know a guy with 2 4tec's and 1 4tec Pro. He loves them. They are pretty quick. He just got an RB x12 for it, but needs to modify the engine mounts. Sorry you had so much bad luck with it.

The little bastard... :D

becuse of the low resell value is why i still have mine id sell it other wise where i live now everything if off road

Yup, my MTX2 also have a low resell value, even Rs4's cost more than it! But due to money, I need to sell it, even if I'm losing money...:ninja:

Is the TRX itself a bad engine? I was gonna put one in my HPI Nitro RS4 Racer, and a pullstart one, because I don't really want to spend the extra money for a luxury like that, and if it breaks down anyway, I don't know why I would waste my money

The TRX is a decent engine, easy to tune, and long lasting... not too much in the power department though.

Wait until you see your first OS CV-R LOL! Then you can say awesome acceleration, though the 2.5 isn't bad at all :)
