ok before you start bitchin about "god I'm tired of these posts" let me let you know I'm following most of eddies rules

I'm looking to either part out or sell whole my savage; wichever gives me more $$$$$. I'm tired of worrying about whats gonna break next.

i found a bunch of Tmaxx 3.3s on ebay for under 100 but i dont know yet.
this truck will never see the track. it will jus e a hardcore basher. from streets to jumps.

if you have any other suggestions please say so.

under $400

Your Savage is breaking a lot or just wanting something different?

-Michael

Yeah... if you think a 3.3 maxx is going to suffer less breakage than a savage... well, your in for a real treat.

I'm with Woodie, what are you breaking on your savy that has you so bunched up about it?

well the savy now is broken and even when running is not ready to go ever a 3 foot jump. i ***** up and put too much bling on. its a street rod and i want a jumper.

Well... then get another savage and don't load it up with so much shiny. Then in a pinch, you can pull parts off the pretty one to bash the good one.

I'm not intentionally being a jerk... I've just owned and been around my fair share of traxxas MT's... a t-maxx heavily mod'd won't hold a candle to a savage with a few upgrades like lunsford turnbuckles and a roll bar. At least not for jumping/bashing.

That's as tough out of the box? I'd have to go with no.

Many trucks can be made to be tougher than their RTR versions, but most of them require upgrades to handle bashing as well as the savage does in it's RTR form. It's just a well built design in general with a few minor weak spots. HPI has covered some of those weak spots like the diffs over the revisions to make it stronger yet in RTR form.

Maybe someone else will help steer you in a direction you want to be in. But personally, I'd never advise anyone to get a t-maxx if they thought the savage was weak.

You're savage is more than twice as tough as a T-Maxx, and if you're planning on jumping a T-Maxx you're just asking for trouble. I would go as far as to say that the Savage is probably 3 to 4 times tougher than the Maxx is. The reason that the Savage is so tough is because of the engineering and the chassis design, you can put all the bolt ons that you want on a t-maxx, but it's still going to have the same T-Maxx chassis design and engineering in the way it's held together, and it's still going to be much more fragile than a Savage because of that design.

And the Savage X is about as cheap as they come, as you can get a complete RTR Savage for around $400, and it doesn't need any extra add ons to be a decent basher. I had about $400 in add ons in my Maxx and it wasn't even close to being as durable as my Savage X SS that I had. I think you're about to make a very unwise decision that is going to be very frustrating over time and cost you a lot of money.

Could you help us out with what your breaking on the savage? In the 3 years or so that I owned a savage, I never broke an arm or shock tower. So, RPM seems a bit useless to me on a savage. Except for maybe the X. They lightened the arms a bit for handling, but it made them weaker.

What TVP's are you looking for? Standard, X, extended after market?

well i have the X 4.6. and this is the jump where it all went down hill.

Untit1led-1.webp

i hit the cable box with the right wheel. broke all of front suspension.
wanted to buy stock but ass hole friend made me buy aluminum. so it was supposed to get just new arms. then i decided to take the entire truck apart to clean it. lost parts. big money pit ever since.

THIS TRUCK HASN'T RUN SINCE FEBUARY 23RD. I GOT IT ON THE 8TH.

the truck is driving me away from RC but something has a clench on me.

I think you pretty well answered your own question. Anytime you load any R/C up with a ton of bling then expect possible breakage and for sure most costly repairs. Remember once aluminum bends one it's pretty well done with, because when it bends it weakens, when you bend it back trying to "fix it" only weakens it even more.

I'm with Olds, I've had a Savage in the past and beat the heck out of it. Never had a problem of "always" breaking stuff. If you really want to spend the money then the RPM A-arms are a nice set and the warranty can't be beat, buy as Olds also said I too never broke an a-arm. But again, you can never be to safe... and that warranty ;)

RPM also makes some skid plates for the Savage as well.

I've had a T-maxx, but not a revo and in my experience with the Maxx is that more things broke then my Savage, no doubt about it. If you want to just look at the product line of RPM alone you'll see they offer a lot more products for the Revo and Maxx then they do the Savage. If I recall correctly RPM had a hard time coming up with items to make for the Savage because it is so strong.

All in all I'd stick with the Savage if you're looking for something to beat the hell out of and ditch the bling.

so basically i should return it to stock?

no problem. anyone wanna buy some arms? =devil=devil

If it was me, yes return to stock. Run it for a while then worry about any needed upgrades. The thing I love about the Savage is how easy it is to work on so even if you do hit a telephone pole at full throttle it doesn't take long to get back in the game.

ok. wow returning to stock would cost me about $100

and also. would little bling items like nicer TVPs or skid plates mess anything up?

I don't care what you hit the cable box with. You're gonna' do some damage.
Go for Dish TV. Less chance of hitting it since it's on the roof.

LOL i have DirecTV(satelite) thats one of 4 main hubs for the entire street. its owned by the cable company.

TVP's are ok, but I don't think they're madatory. With the money that it would cost to buy TVP's, you could get your rig back running and put the stock parts on. Quit worrying about trying to buy pretty parts, and you'll have it running in no time. I too am building a shelf queen, but I have 15 other rigs to bash on since I know that it's going to be apart for a really long time. It seems like you're complaining about having so much aluminum, and then trying to buy more aluminum in the same thread.
