I had a similar problem with a maxx I bought from the states last year , the engine was so badly seized I couldn't get it to turn for the life of me and once I opened it up I found not only were the bearings seized they had a fair amount of rust which wasn't going to come off so the cheapest thing to do was buy a block with bearings installed from eBay , the whole exercise cost me less than 20 bucks to ship to oz and now the engine is sweet.
so if you want the cheap way get a block from dollarhobbies and just reuse everything else you have least that if the engine is low on compression you aren't dropping too much into it with an unknown reward.
