I am a convert for electric to nitro and I need a little help. I have a xxxnt with the mach .15 engine. The other night I was cleaning the truck and I guess I got a little carried away with the simple green and now the pull start doesn't pull nearly as smooth. I have cleaned the one-way bearing, but it didn't help. When I turn the flywheel by hand it doesn't turn as easly when the it gets to TDC. Any ideas? maybe the outer bearing near the flywheel?

congrats on the shift over to nitro! how new is the truck - is this engine broken in fully, or is it brand new?

it is fully broken in, I actually bought it the truck used. It was running good until I cleaned it with the simple green. I took of the back plate off and when I rotate the piston by hand it is not very smooth when gets to TDC. When I take out the glow plug, or back it off a few turns it feels much smoother.

u seem pretty knowlegable - so i would suggest to remove the head and check to make sure no grains of dirt or sand have become lodged up in there. if there isnt any signs of damage, or wear - i wouldnt worry about it.

Most likely the cause is that the simple green has sucked away all the lube oil the engine had in it. once u fire it up, and the fuel returns, it should be fine. You could squirt a few drops of after run oil in the glow plug hole if u wanted, that should loosen things up too.

I would second the after run oil. Once you fire it up again, you should be fine. Welcome to nitro and to RCNT.

I figured the simple green either sucked up some oil, or maybe something was lodged up in there. I tried starting it before, but I wasn't having any luck with that, but it could just be a bad glow plug. Looks like its time to take a trip to the hobby store.
