Alright so about a 3 weeks ago I bought a stock 2wd slash and I love it, so far all I have is a 2 cell lipo.
Tomorrow my vxl bushless kit comes in, any wisdom anyone wants to offer on running bushless such as gearing/what temps I need to keep my esc/motor under, engine brake in or anything else for that matter.:)

thanks

Brushless compared to stock is night and day difference; you'll love it! Personally, I haven't ever broken any of mine in, and I don't believe there is a break in for a brushless motor? All of mine are still running great, so I'd assume it's fine. For gearing, when I ran my Brushless slash, I used a VXL combo, and on the track it ran good. I used an 86T spur gear, and a 19T Piniion. My temperatures were always good, and never got high. As I said, you won't regret going brushless!

where did you pick up your VXL system from? I'm trying to find the best deal out there.

I always ran 86/18 and 86/19 with 3s and wouldnt over heat through a entire pack. I'm on stock gearing on my 4wd slash with 3s and temps are still low after a pack on it as well.

I'd say eBay if you don't have a problem buying used. I've bought a good many there, and I've never had any problems. You can even buy them brand new on eBay, and get a good deal!

My lhs King Kong hobby, I used the traxxas exchange program so gave them my stock motor, stock busted speed controller and 130 dollars and they sent me a new vxl system.

If you weren't gong to do the exchange program I just noticed tower hobbys has a new kit for 149.99 and you can do the ez pay so 50 bucks a month no intrust.

what 2c lipo are you guys using? I'm looking at upgrading my battery, motor and ESC all at once. I have a stock slash other than a couple RPM parts.

For a 2S lipo, I hear very good things about "Hobbyking.com" as far as their batteries go. The only problem is that their shipping is not the fastest. Other than that, for the price ($20) you get a 2S 5000mah lipo that is just as good as the more expensive brands. If you are looking to spend a lot, I am running a 2S 5000mah 40C Lipo by Thunderpower, and honestly, I notice no difference between it and the cheap Turnigy Lipo from Hobbyking.
