If ya have the room go with a bandpass box, but if ya can't go that big get a ported. It makes a big difference. Check out memphis 1000d amps. Thats what I used to compete with (18 of them) and the amps ROCK!

Why not just a sealed box,That way you have nice tight bass, not quite as much thump, but if you go with a high power 15 then it wouldn't really matter.

Well if your going to spend money on a car stereo,I would probablly check the other part's of a stereo first beside's just sub's,sub's are nice, sub's are cool, but with stock speaker's they just don't rule.

What is the rest of your system like?

that box is both sealed and ported, so i dotn so what to do?
Thats not possible. With a port in it, it isnt sealed.. Sealed means theres no holes at all in the box. Ported is theres a port (A whole with a pipe in it). Bandpass is the subs are enclosed in the box and theres usually a window showing the speakers and theres ports on top or in front.

Looking at the box he was having us look at, it's a band pass box. The side for the face of the speakers is ported, the side for the rear of them is sealed against one another. I'm not sure how that would sound... When I built my boxes, I normally built the box so the speakers were sealed from each other. Then they weren't fighting one another. Or, I'd mount them face to face and wire them so one was right and the other was reverse, then one would push while the other pulled... made for some really HARD bass with my 12's. I ran the 15's sealed from each other, but in the same box.

I think this is what he's talking about:

For my money, the box doesn't look large enough for a pair of 10's...

I agree,I'm sure the box doesn't have enough cub feet to handle 2 10's,So have a box built that will fit better into your car, have it custom made so that it will look nicer, and sound better.

Oh that ones totally different than the link I got..lol..It was one that was on the truck lid of a car. Yeah thats a bandpass box. Them are good setups. Alot of 10's dont take up to much space. I think my old Rf series ones took .75 of a foot. (That was the last time I owned 10's..lol). I think that actually looks like a preatty good set up. When a company like that puts them out in the box then you at least know that the box was made for them. Unlike these Q logic boxes that make any box and cut the hole out for the size of the sub. Them are junk. But yeah, that should sound pretty decent depending on the amp. Whats the amp, do ya know yet?

ya know looking at it again, that wont work. They have there ports in the wrong side. The ports should be behind the speaker, not in front of it. 1st thing Id do is swap that around. (Flip your subs) thats pretty dumb of them.

ok, sorry for all the probs, but i just went with another setup...I'm going for the alphasonik 600 series subs, in a custom made ported box, with a 1800 watt. amp.

While i was thinking, did you check to see if your Alternator can handle that much power, along with your wiring inside the car? What 1800watt amp are you going with?

well we(my friend who hooke me up) were talking about that, and I'm goin to get a new altanator tomorrow. The box was special made for these speakers with 2 ports for them. They call it a "cheater" amp cause it puts out way more amps than it acually says. its putten out 1800 watts.

you gotta go bigger than 8 guage. 8 guage is rated up to 500 watts. You need AT LEAST 4 guage. Also dont worry about your alternator. Worse comes to worse, buy a $30 powerblock or if ya have to a monster cap. I dont think youll have to worry about it though.

ok well the speaker lockouts take a maximum of of 8 gauge wire. I dont no about the amp., but prob. the same, i so can't do anything like that.

you trim the ends of the wires to 8 guage but leave the rest. Otherwise that powerblock I was tellin ya about, you can get them to accept 0 guage, then from the block run 8 guage to the speakers.

I'm got them, but now I'm sellen them for 2 digital audio 600 series.
