i just put a new plug in my car. it starts up fine but when i got to give it gas, it cuts off. any ideas why this is happening?

Either it's too rich or too lean. When it stalls does it just quit or does it bog down with a gurgly sound? If it just quits then it's too lean, if it bogs then it's too rich.

Probably too lean. Thats most likely why you had to replace the plug in the first place.

i got my needles really rich so i didnt ruin a new glow plug. (thanks by the way) and its just stalls when i put the gas on. theres no way its to lean. i put it back to break in settings. still get the same thing

Lean it out in 1/8 turn increments until it runs. Use only the HSN for now, set the LSN flush to the housing as a baseline setting.

been doing that. doesn't seem to be working. got another blister from that damn pull start. starting to make me angry, might put it away till tomorrow if it doesn't start soon

are all nitros this much of a pain in the butt. I'm like ready to throw the thing across the street

Yes they are. Once you've got your needles right, it should lower the pain. Did you get a hotter glow plug? I've heard that if it's hotter than usual it'll nitro faster. If it's colder it'll burn nitro slower, Slower = leaning it out, Hotter = Richening it out. That's just what I have heard.

yeah i dont know what if going on now. it starts fine. they just keeps shutting off after like 10 seconds. can take the ignitor off. or can't hit the gas without stalling

That means it's too rich. Now that your engine can start you can mess with the LSN until it runs long enough to tune. Lean it out 1/8 turn until it idles longer and then tune the HSN again.

I know it can be fristrating, but once you've learned how to find a tune, it's just start it up and go. With my T-Maxx anyway, I would get so frustrated, but once I learned how to tune and what signs to watch for and how to adjust when I see the signs, now I just basically start it and bring it up to temp, then tune, then bash around all day. Just be patient, once you figure it out it, things will go MUCH smoother.

 When I first started nitro RC I basically only knew the definition of the word "tuning". Now, though, I can troubleshoot and fix most problems with nitro engines, such as my OTHER neighbor's CEN touring car. It was so lean that it wouldn't even start, but he didn't know it. I took a look at it and had it running in five minutes lol

i had the same problem if it wasn't for rolex and the flow chart i would still be trying to get my aftershock running just be patient and you will get it

i guess patience isnt one of my virtues haha. I'm gonna print out that flow chart today and get this car running right, thanks everyone!

I studied that flow chart for about a week while my truck was down along with information that the veterans on here have posted, and when I went to tune my truck I knew what signs to watch for and how to adjust accordingly, it was like the Messiah of RC Tuning appeared from above! I couldn't belive how good the truck was running and how cool the engine was to be pushing that much power, everything just felt so smooth once I got the tune right. Like I said, now I just start it up, make very minor adjustments depending on the weather, and run the truck all day. It's very stable and very dependable, I couldn't ask for a better running truck once I got the tune right.

Mattyfats, I hope things work out for you and you can enjoy your car a lot more. I've been frustrated a few times myself, but I'm SOOOOOOO glad I stuck it out and found out how much pleasure a person can get out of this hobby. It was worth all the frustration and more! Good Luck Man!

thanks charliestheman. i was just wondering. if its been cold here in FL for like the past 2 days. getting to aboout 40. would that affect my car? i leave it out in the garage. so its feeling that temp. i should prob leave it inside from now on when it gets that cold

I'm a noob and I'm not trying to answer out of place, but I have heard many veterans say that it is always good to keep your car in a climate controlled area so they can stay at room temperature. Personally, I take good care of my cars. I sleep on the floow so I can keep my RC's in the bed. It's not that bad... yet!

yeah is should have figured that. ill start doing that from now on. do you think thats why my car is hard to start when i first try to start it? and also is there a way to change a car from pull start to that thing i see in the videos with the drill? or electric start?
