Here I was some movies on the net and I came across this movie rating/content: Rated PG-13 for language and scenes of peril. What exactly is a scene of peril? What happened to just the plain old contents, nudity, language and violence? Is it just me or does it seem they are getting a little too PC on movie contents?

Ice Age, which is a fantastic movie for children and adults, is rated PG due to "mild peril"

OK, peril is peril.....It's like kind of dead.......kind of AWOL....kind of pregnant.

Mr T

Every since the we all saw Janet's tit the sensorship stuff has been out of control. Who cares we got to see a Hot chicks tits!

Peril, I believe, is a feeling of fear and impending doom. Kind of how you would feel in real life if anything that looked like EP's signature or Avatar was coming your way.

Aww shut up. I hate to remind everyone here but you are going to die. It's on your schedule whether you want it to be or not, so why say peril in a movie rating? It's going to happen to everyone at some point in time and probably not when you want it to happen.

I spent most of my early childhood in a PG-13, PG, or R state of existance.

Most of my childhood was spent outside playing or watching Bugs Bunny and Tom&Jerry cartoons on Saturday mornings. I remember before watching movies seing the "Brief Nudity" or "Graphic Violence" and the ever popular "Strong Sexual content" alerts but now there are so many I can't even keep up with them all.It used to be G, PG, PG13, R, and NC17 but now there's all the TV ratings and other BS.....

Actually PG-13 is actually one of the first "new" ratings. If memory serves it came out in the mid 80s whereas the other ratings came out in the late 60s.

When looking through the cable menu, at least for those of us that have digital cable with all the extras, it's the ratings that tell us whether or not to even bother clicking to that channel. If it says G or PG-13, it's 'don't bother'.
If it says 'nudity' or 'strong sexual content' .......click.
