New Losi 1:10 22S 2WD Dirt Oval Late Model RTR

Losi knocked it out of the park with this one.

$420 for the RTR Summit livery which includes battery and charger
$380 for the RTR Green or Blue livery with no battery or charger

The minimalist 22 chassis design plus that body, makes me think this thing is going to be FAST. Seeing this thing really makes me miss the days of dirt oval.

The clipless body design with the hidden release button built into the air filter really does it for me lol.

Prob a noob question but is this the same size car as the Mudboss?
Would they compete well with each other?

so is TLR dead and Losi is going racing. just not off road or on road racing. is this the 80's? is oval cool again? is oval the next no prep? 15 minutes and poof all but gone other than the niche diehards? I'm confused.

ok, replace cool with popular. back in the 80's and well into the 90's it had a strong fallowing. then by the late 90's/early 2000's it seemed to just disappear. tracks closed. sanctioning bodies ceased operations. it seemed to be nowhere and no one was doing it.
at least in my neck of the hood.

This car is about the same size as a Mudboss but it'll run circles around one. Its Traxxas competition/classmate would be the Slash Late Model.

In my opinion, Traxxas completely dropped the ball on the dirt oval market. Before they started selling dirt oval RTRs, most club racers were already running Slash based builds. When I was into it, I had a Slash Mudboss, Slash Late Model, and a Slash "Street Spec" which was just a Slash with a streetcar body setup for dirt. They started dropping their RTR offerings and they don't even align with any existing rulesets, so they had to be ran as their own classes (yes, Losi did the same thing, but nobody was already running Losi setups). Not to mention, their dirt oval cars are literally just a Slash with a dirt oval body and terrible tires. Nothing done to the suspension or chassis to make it adapted for a dirt oval. The Losi offerings are actually setup out of the box to turn left on dirt. /rant.

Isn't that basically the same as what AE did with the SR10? Took what used to be an SCT (SC10), and turned it into a dirt oval car? It seems to be a popular theme lately to take an existing SCT and create different dirt track cars from it.

Wouldn't be all that hard really. At most, you would need a body, and possibly body mounts, bumpers and shock towers.

It's basically there after the body is on. Motor upgrade, suspension tuning, oval specific tires and wheels etc.

I figured it out with the AE stuff because a guy offered me a SR10 roller recently, and, I'm not really into dirt track oval stuff, so, I started looking at what it would take to convert it to an SC10 Pro2, and, literally, all you have to change are the shock towers, bumpers and front body mount. You can even keep the SR10 wheels and tires if you wanted, and, half the parts for the SR10 and SC10 are actually listed as being for the DR10 and, in the case of the metal diff, you can use the one from the DR10M drag car.

You either really like it, or you haven't tried it! lol

I swore I would never race oval because it was "only turning left" and then I tried it and instantly had 3 cars to race. It's a blast.

It's the standard SR10 with the rear motor. I'm actually not picking it up until after August 1ST, but, he sent me a ton of pics of it so I knew ahead of time what I'm dealing with.
