Great choice, he will have a blast! As that was my first truck when I was 14. If you decide to get a LiPo make sure to get a fireproof LiPo sack and a LiPo specific balance charger.

No, not really. But I'm not going to keep quiet when someone basically says to me "your opinion is worthless, but my (opposing) opinion is gospel". It's rude, it's arrogant, and it absolutely should be called out.

Whatever you say dude, you need to stop wearing your feelings on your sleeve, its called a forum for a reason, its for discussions, not to get your feelings hurt when people disagree with you.

QCTM as I read this. "Feelings" hurt? Only my wife and kids can accomplish that.

No, it's about respect, civility and maturity. You can disagree with me to your heart's content, but do so respectfully. I invite dissenting opinions offered with thoughtful discourse. Simply saying you're wrong and I'm right doesn't qualify.

The OP seems to have made his decision, hopefully he's happy with it. I think there are better choices, but unless he and his son continue in the hobby, they will likely never know the difference. I'm quite sure they'll enjoy the kit, but I'm also confident that if they ever become serious about RC, they'll move on from TRX as virtually everyone else does.

well I dud not pick it up yet idk what to do I am looking at a jammer 10 short trck truvk also not sure if that is any better for both bashing and racing

Maybe you should go to a race and check out whats popular in your area. Like what class is big and the such. As far as bashing, all the trucks that have been discussed can take a reasonable beating.

I went to track today it seems the 2wd and 4wd short course classes are most popular most where running the slash but 2 in the 4wd class had jammin scrt10 4wd that wad a rtr it had a brushless motor and both the scrt10 where best in the races but it seems they lack a little in speed vs the slasher but they aper to have more adjustable ability is that a true assumption

If your gonna race pick up a race worthy kit (and by kit I mean an RTR to start). They are about the same price as a Slash 4X4 and then you dont have to worry about it. You can bash or later on be competitive. All race kits make good bashers but not all bashers make good race kits. Traxxas will never be able to compete with know race kits given 2 drivers with the exact same skill level. Seeing as how the race ktis fit both roles and they arent to much different in price theres really no reason not to go with a race worth SCT right from the get go. Just my .02 worth
