ok guys, i am fixing to change the engine on my rc10gt from a .O.S .15 cv to a .O.S .18 cv-rx. i currently have a 15t clutch bell and a 66 tooth spur.the truck now wheelys alot if i have it tuned right. i know the .18 has alot more power then the .15 and i want to regear the truck so that it will wheely if i really try, but not all the time. i want more top speed then i have now. i know i need a bigger cb and/or a smaller spur. what i dont know is how far to go. does anyone have this engine on there truck. what gearing are you running. i dont plan on racing, i bash is short grass, dirt, gravel, just about everywere.. i like this little truck because its so fast and its a handfull being 2wd. thanks for you time guys.

also if you have the gears I'm interested in please let me know as i may be interested in buying them..

Try 17/64 for a beginning setting. I ran 18/60 with my .21, and it still wheelied on command... I haven't run a small block in a long time... :hehe:

I ran 20/62 with my ported RB X12.I have a OS .18 CVR in my NTC3 and the power it makes sure surprised me...I would try a 16 or 17 tooth bell and maybe a 62 or 64 spur..You just have to pick a ratio and go from there..

thanks for the info guys i just dont want to buy like 3 or 4 of each to get it right.. i dont race so it doesn't have to be perfect. i think ima go to a 18 cb and stay with my 66t spur if it will fit, then if its still low ill change the spur.

i got it installed and i must say it looks mean.. i like it ALOT and i havent even fired it.. its got crazy compression, i put aro in it and put the plug back in and pulled the rope and it hydrolocked... this thing is gonna be a pita to finish breaking in..!!

I dont *think* the 18t cb will fit with the 66t spur... I'm 100% sure, but i dont think it will... prove me wrong!

i was kinda wondering about that. i got plenty of room with the 15, its pretty much in the middle. but i dont know how much bigger the 18 is. mark is your cb for a stadium truck? and how much for it?

also my shoes on the clutch dont have any springs.. there just white (derlin?) shoes that dont even have any spring notches. is this normall? the only other one I've messed with had the long shoes and the spring loop thing.

they seem to work fine, but i may be looking for an upgrade after this new motor. anyone have some upgrades i should look at?

anyone have a 17t cb just to be safe??

Well, the stock GT comes with the white teflon shoes, i dont think they are delrin. MIP makes a clutch for it that works really good, and it has the long shoes with the spring, like most vehicles now a days. I'll dig around to see if i have a 17 or 18t i could send ya...

yea teflon.. lol the clutch seemed to work fine on the .15 i was just kinda worried it wouldnt hold the extra power.. and the spring would help with takeoff. lmk if you have a 17t.. I'm kinda leery about the 18 and if it will fit. my lhs has a 18t AE bell for 8.99 though..

wheelie on command?? ha, I have an OS 18 and the damn thing can't keep tires on it.. even with foams they just spin :)

i have drivin the truck with the .18 on it for about 8 tanks. the only way to describe it is "stupidfast" i have spun 2 sets of wheels already and stripped the idler gear in the trans. i have some street tires now and will hopefully soon get to do a high speed run with the radar gun.

I'm still at the 15/66 gear setup and i can beat a .18tm revo. (as long as i can keep the truck shiney side up) I'm not even gonna guess how fast it could go toped out as i dont have that kind of room here. ill let the radar gun do the talking.

15/66 may seem fast, but then drop it to 18/58 or something like that... HEHEH... I have yet to try 24/54 with the collari in there...
