Your friends RS4 is an on-road touring car, the Truggy you linked to is an off-road truck and will not do very well on-road at all if that’s what you’re looking for.

Tamiya is a decent brand, but is pricey and not as sturdy as others on the market. I would also go with a different brand of servo like Hitec, Savox, Futaba or JR. AMain has a good selection.

If you don't Mind price, losi 8 ight 3.0. I've never known anyone who owned a losi not like it.

While it's probably larger and faster than what you're looking for, can't beat the deal on the Tamiya 801XT right now. A $700 kit that's being liquidated for $99. Just be aware that they do not include any electronics, engine, pipe or wheels & tires, which will all set you back a minimum of about $300 for halfway decent stuff.

Outside of 1/8 scale competition level stuff, it's getting pretty difficult to find a nitro that isn't RTR. I actually can't even think of a 1/10 nitro that isn't RTR.

I'm going to try and sell my redcat again just to get this!
A truggy is what I want so bad, and its so cheap and brand new. Missing alot but I have plenty of stuff ro work with! Back to ebay!

does anyone know how i can find tracks around me that are still open...every site i go to shows me all kinds of tracks but all are closed...i want to make sure i buy something I'm actually able to use at a track fairly close to me.. I'm in orlando florida

sixtysixduece's 801

Well, my 801XT came today. It was a solid 8 hour build, not including body. I started on it at 5 this afternoon, took a break for dinner, finishing just before 2AM.

It is a really nice truggy!

I'll get more pics up later, just snapped a quick one on my phone to show it's size next to my Prolite. Too tired to do a photo session right now.

If anyone else decides to build one, PM me for some tips. It's pretty straight-forward, but there are a couple idiosyncrasies that it helps to know about beforehand. Also, it took me about 8 hours, but I have a ton of build experience, and I use power drivers. If you haven't done much building and/or will be using regular drivers and hex keys, expect to spend a weekend on this critter. I didn't count, but I'd say it's nothing short of 1,200 individual pieces.

Id just call a local hobby store and ask them. Good chance they know of more than one, likely some backyard tracks around too.

Good call SNG. I met most of the guys from the local tracks at my LHS. They've been a great help in getting things to work like they should both on road and off.

i like on road less clean up. but i mod off road trucks to go onroad. iam not sure i know why.
