New to RC really want to get into it...I'm currently a student at UTI in orlando florida and want something to do...but I'm having a very hard time finding a Nitro car i want..not sure if i want onoad or offroad...i want a car that i have to put together...and i want something that i can slowly hopup all help is appreciated

First of all, welcome to RCNT! Second, what kind of terrain do you want to run most on? And what kind of speed are you looking for? Those two things will really dictate what kind of RC suits your intended use best.

i definitely want speed but not something so fast i can't control for a beginner and ill mainly run in grass/concrete because thats all that is around me haha

I would find hobby shops near you and see what brands they carry, when your starting out it's nice to buy parts locally instead of having to order. try to find a track near you and find out what they run, this might be the deciding factor to on or off road.

While it's probably larger and faster than what you're looking for, can't beat the deal on the Tamiya 801XT right now. A $700 kit that's being liquidated for $99. Just be aware that they do not include any electronics, engine, pipe or wheels & tires, which will all set you back a minimum of about $300 for halfway decent stuff.

Outside of 1/8 scale competition level stuff, it's getting pretty difficult to find a nitro that isn't RTR. I actually can't even think of a 1/10 nitro that isn't RTR.

i really dont mind price..i want something good dont want something thats gonna break instantly and make me stop so I'm gonna invest some so i can actually enjoy it

I agree with @hotrodrob on this. My first nitro was the Revo 3.3 and I've had a buggy as well. I do prefer the Revo because it is definitely more terrain friendly and most hobby shops do carry Traxxas parts.

I bought the 2.5 TMAXX. top speed of 45, 4 wheel drive, it handles on or off road great, and man is this thing tough.

I have to say I am a traxxas fan and I'm gonna say a revo or a t maxx but if you want something that is a bit more agile and can still take a beating ,probably look for a 1/8 buggy there are a great selection to choose from and hop ups galore.

should i get a kit car or RTR?so lost on what to do iv been researching for like a week now and feel like iv made no progress. i want a car that i can run both offroad and onroad that had quite a bit of speed so i can keep up with my friends car

Get a radar gun, you'll be surprised. Our testing has proved T-Maxx to be on the shy side of 30 MPH in stock form.

If your looking at the Monster truck side of the nitro world you can't go wrong with the Revo Or Tmaxx. They both have a great aftermarket support. With that said the HPI savage also has great support and are tough as nails stock out of the box. Also I think Hpi still sells one as a kit version. I am more of a fan of the Traxxas rigs but everyone has a preference. If your looking at an RTR the Monster GT is also a great rig, but support is dying out for it in aftermarket parts. I would go with the Revo best handling monster truck out there in stock form.

Get yourself something like the Losi 8ight 3.0. It's a kit, but nothing wrong with building a nitro vehicle--it will get you acclimated very quickly.

for 1/8th scale look aqt th hobao hyper 7, good, quick rteliable and furthermore will do you for alto when driving all surface. the only other thing you could do id buy a set ofonroad tyres with it so you can change for wherever you wan to drive

Hey man, that HPI starter kit is EU spec so the charger won't work in the states. You'll also want a receiver pack to power your electronics and a charger for it.
