I dont get it ...

I have had my Nitro Evader for going on 3 months now and people with other manufacturers cars call it trash, junk and so on. But I search these forums and others, these same people are asking for help with their own vehicles because something broke or doesn't work. I have had very little trouble and breakage with my Evader. While they are waiting for their new part from Tower or wherever, I am still in my yard or in the street running mine. May be the fact I dont try to see how much air I can get or try to jump a house/garage. None of these vehicles were manufactured to fly, if they were they would have optional wings for them. These were made to run onroad or offroad, that is exactly what I do with mine and I have no issues to deal with. Yes, mine has broke a few times but that was from my own negligence and not DuraTrax. I have seen people jump a truck off a roof, break a part and then sit there and wonder why it happened. Most of you might think Evader owners have junk for a truck/buggy because it wont take a 20ft fall off a ramp. But not everybody wants to do that, including me. Sure its cool to watch, but not my cup of tea, I would rather spend my time driving instead of a few seconds of WOW and then fixing it. The price I paid for my 4 Evaders I see as an investment in fun times with my kids, not something I have to pump money into so I can jump a house or skate ramp.

For those of you who tell people not to buy "DuraTrash", have you driven one of the Evaders yet? Or have you been stuck with one vehicle? I have owned and driven 1 Tamiya, 2 RC10's and 2 Kyosho's and 1 Losi in all my years in this hobby. I dont lean one way or the other towards any certain manufacturer seeing how this hobby is supposed to promote fun and friendship. Years ago about 20 of us used to get together once in awhile, have a cookout and play, the cars/trucks ranged from a Radio Shack beater to the top of the line Shumacher. Nobody cared what the other guy had, it was all in fun. No one was rideculed or picked on for their choice in vehicle. Today its a different story, people look down upon others because they want an Evo or DuraTrax. People, especially younger kids new to the hobby are forced by peer pressure to buy a certian name truck because "IT'S THE BEST", "ITS NUMBER 1", "IT WILL BEAT SO-N-SO". When the new hobbiest gets the certain truck, now he/she starts in on others, "MINE IS THE BEST", "MY TRUCK ROCKS, YOURS IS JUNK" and the vicsous cycle starts all over again. I was in the hobby when Losi introduced their cars to the market, they were not the best vehicle when they started out. Losi was a company new to the RC racing circuit. Just like DuraTrax is new to the racing scene but been supplying racers for years with quality racing products. I said it before, this hobby was intended to promote fun, not disgust.

Well, I have ranted enough ... I had to get my thoughts out after reading some posts on here.

pins and needles, needles and pins.....
take a deep breath guy. Not everyone in this forum is self centered.

i have just about every kind of car.
i dont judge which is better, just run to have a good time

If you notice there is a lot of people that post what to buy or what is the best this or that, and people give there opinion because that is what you are expected to do. I happen to be one of those guys that likes to leap his buggy off of what ever will give me air, and I am not alone in this. So to do this and have fun you need something that is durable enough to take it. If someone asks me which buggy is the best for that I will say the Ofna PBS because I have had alot of fun and air time with it and not broken any parts yet. I have never owned a Duratraxx so I could not tell you how they hold up to that kind of a beating, but other people do and will give you there opinion. So if you want to cruise up and down the road or on the front lawn I am sure you will have a great time with your rig, and if you want to drive it of the roof of your house then let use now how it does.

Diff strokes for diff folks, I for one HAVE to push the limits of my RC's and I pay a lot of money doing so. Duratraxx are for people that want to spend very little but still have a decent RC. They are fine, but there are RC's out there that are way better quality, do you need them well thats something you have to ask yourself.

Very good posts Rython and HumbodtBlazer. I repect your opinions and thoughts, just as I wish others would respect mine. If thats what you want to do that is cool, I will sit back and watch, ewwing and ahhing along with you. But I would not do it myself.

:)

If you've got a Duratrax and YOU are happy with it than that's all that matters. The thing about Duratrax is, is that it seems like many more people that speak up about their car/truck have more negative to say than positive. That being said, there's reason they got the nickname "Duratrash" and it's not because of what they're doing to the competetion.

I personally think Duratrax is a great brand to get if you're just looking to have fun with an entry grade, hobby calibur RC. I do not think it's a good brand to go with if you are looking to be tough on, or competitively race with.

The fun factor VS cost that Duratrax provides is top-notch, but like I said, it's top-notch for the enthusiast looking to just have a fun time.

I'm glad you're having a blast with your RC. Bottom line is, if you're enjoying what you've got then it's worth every bit of it no matter what anyone else thinks. Fun is the generic main ingredient, the type of fun is the main ingredient that will lead you to purchase what vehicle you purchase.

He left me out! I guess he didn't like my post.

:wtf:

OOPS - :worship: Sorry RatzoRC props to you too. :hi:

About my post - Let me point out I am not complaining or pointing out one single company. This rant was just an observation of the kind of things I noticed going on in the forums. Sometimes they go from a simple jab to down right hateful insults. I only used DuraTrax as an example because its a popular company to bash

I can't understand where your coming from bro and I agree with ya for the most part. I've actually driven the Nitro Evader for an extended period of time and found it to be a great care for the price. THe O.S. .18 that it comes with is a screamer and will smoke the arse off the Mach .15 that comes with the Losi XXXNT.

I've actually deffended DuraTrax on a couple of occasions here and I've also called them DuraTrash...lol. They're allot better then they use to be IME but they still aren't on par with Team Associated and LOSI IMVHO.

I judge RC's but the performance and not the Factory Team selling the product. If your having fun, that's what counts. I've sure a good driver with a good setup could whopp some ass on a track with a Nitro Evader.

People rag on my RS4,I dont mind anymore,it use to aggravate the poop outa me.I did hop the hell outa it but it wasn't because of the peer pressure,I too push everthing to its limit, and desire everthing to perform to the best of its ability, pull every ounce of potential out.Its all to satisfy me and my needs, not because someone called it junk.I did all the work and it performs exceptionally well for what it is.I never have to find a part.I love the car, thats what its all about.Later

Chris

Thank God someone sees my side of the story. Mastec, look for my post awhile back on why many folks dog on the Duratrax.
I for one love my EvaderBX nitro, cause it is cheap to keep up, goes like stink, and the power wheelies are kinda cool.
Everything that has broken on mine, front arms and shock tower, were due to excessive force on the parts from a full bore crash into a 6 in. steel pipe.
To each his own, but i like the idea of explaining why Duratrax is a nice ride for some but better rigs out there for others. Not everybody wants to drop a poop pot of money on a R/C car, then if they change their mind they have a very expensive toy and prolly can't get back out what they spent.
Love all, tolerate some, kill a few.

I have a friend that has a HPI MT..he was told by a guy, that HPI was good for bashing but a lower entry car for racing.
He was happy with his MT, until his car was dissed. Now he wants nothing to do with it. He wants to put it on Ebay so he can buy what we have. He doesn't have the budget because he's only 14 yrs old, but feels he has to keep up with the older guys now.
It's a shame what pressure can do to an ego.
In my opinion, true or not, they didn't have to tell him that.

True, True.....It's a freaking shame really. WHen we where kids we didn't have that much to choose from compared to the unbelieveable market today. Hell......My Cox .049 touring car got allot of respect before it decided to go play in traffic.

Most of the brand bashing is just typical of the generation of kids today...look at the commercials on tv. Image is everything. When I was single and racing in the mid-80's, I bought top of the line everything...now that I'm an old married fart, I only buy what I can enjoy, and treat it like it's supposed to be...I'll admit, that my Traxxas rustler is far from being a legitimate racer, but it was a good deal to get the RTR, as opposed to buying everything separate. I also play and upgrade as I can afford to, and would gladly share the good and bad points with anyone.
Recently, I got my supervisor at work interested in RC, and did some research...I actually talked him into getting the Duratrax Nitro Evader over the Traxxas Rustler, just from personal experience with the Rusty, and the Futaba radio that the Evader comes with...He's been extremely happy with his truck ever since (and I'm wishing I would've looked at the Duratrax first).
Anyway, don't let people's cheap shots get you down about the hobby, or make you think twice about your truck...this sort of behavior typical of today...Slap their parents instead...:whack:
Keep truckin' dude!

all of these posts make good points BUT i have driven/worked on cars from hpi, traxxas, and duratrax. the quality of the build of these brands go in this order 1HPI 2 Traxxas and then duratrax.

the savage held up the best and stayed pretty close in speed to the maxx.

the maxx does have weakpoints, but overall traxxas makes a pretty tough rig

duratrax on the other hand, the car will fall apart while driving it. nad its not because I'm an idiot, i know what I'm doing on these cars. duratrax makes certain parts aluminum to sell the truck, like aluminum shocks, shock towers, chassisbaces ext. but those parts dont reallly improve the quality of the vehicle. i got the empression of duratrax as "cheaply made in order to maximize profits" i used a maximum st pro and a thunder quake. disapointed with both.

I dont know how you drive but I have jumped, cartwheeled, flipped, hit trees, hit posts and concrete steps with mine and it has not fallen apart yet. I have replaced 2 left suspension arms, 1 bulkhead and 1 rear carrier in the 3 months I have owned it.

i like duratrax my first buggy was a axis and it was fast as hell and could take some hard licks i smacked it in to a telephone pole WOT and didnt hurt it the only thing that ever hurt is when me and wasteland hit head on WOT and it just cracked the gas tank and bent the front brace a little bit over all i would buy another duratrax

every expericance i have had with duratrax sucked, but the message of this thread is IT'S YOUR MONEY, WASTE IT ON WHATEVER YOU WANT, TRAXXAS, DURATRAX, HPI, LOSI WHATEVER.
