hello, iam new to the nirto rc world, this last weekend I traded my old honda dirt bike for a savage 25 and a buggy that is missing the electronics and the servos and iam sure alot of other things that I dont know about yet.

so if you any one could ID this frame and motor for me that would be great. Iam thinking of turning this into a winte build project.

thank you that was fast.

Now, you say a team Losi nockoff, is that a good or bad thing. Please be patient Iam realy new to all this and am not sure about all the good, bad and cheap out there.

The motor seems to be sleved, and compresion seems good. Is this a good candidate for a rebuild for a newbie??? and any ideas where I should start?

Basically saying its a cheap Team Losi. Takes a lot of their ideas from Losi and uses them in their own RCs. Its also a stadium truck not a buggy called the Duratrax Nitro Evader. If you ask me its a knock off of Associated's RC10GT not Losi. Duratrax .18 engine

1st it could use an air filter any kind would work but I prefer a Losi air filter set
http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_info.php/products_id/7957/n/Team-Losi-Air-Filter-Set

2nd a new motor and exhaust system preferably dynamite
http://www.amainhobbies.com/product...115354/n/Dynamite-Platinum-18RE-5-Port-Engine (sadly on backorder right now)
http://www.amainhobbies.com/product...-10-Revo-Power-Inline-Exhaust-System-Polished (should be able to return it if it doesn't fit, but I'm sure it will)

3rd Some new rear tires and wheels (yours look pretty worn from the pick, p.s. you dont need front tires, theyre supposed to be like that)
http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_info.php/products_id/5259/n/Pro-Line-Dirt-Paw-22-Truck-Tires-2
http://www.amainhobbies.com/product...e-Velocity-22-Rear-Quick-Change-Wheel-Dyeable (should be able to return it if it doesn't fit, but I'm sure it will)

Finally some cheap JR servos
http://www.amainhobbies.com/product.../9934/n/JR-Z590M-Torque-Race-Metal-Gear-Servo (steering)
http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_info.php/products_id/28421/n/JR-ST126MG-High-Torque-Servo

Other ideas to consider is:
a failsafe incase your batteries die your car will stop instead of runaway at full throttle (you never want the to happen)
http://www.hobbypeople.net/gallery/146077.asp

replace the shock oil preferably 45WT (it may be too dirty, you may also want to check the recommended WT the lower the WT the stiffer the shocks)
http://www.amainhobbies.com/product.../4721/n/Team-Losi-Silicone-Shock-Oil-45wt-2oz

a body (if you dont have one, not good to run without. They do need to be cut so maybe go to someone who knows hot to cut them or a local hobby store)
http://prolineracing.com/bodies/crowd-pleazer-gt-factory-team/ (is not pre painted, clear body, but doesn't have to be painted either)

and maybe in time a radio (controler) preferably Airtronics or spektrum
http://www.amainhobbies.com/product...port-FHSS-2-24-GHz-Radio-w-3-Channel-Receiver (good yet affordable also comes with servos throttle/steering)
http://www.amainhobbies.com/product...DX20-DSM-2CH-Radio-w-SR300-Reciever-No-Servos (good yet affordable)

extra glow plugs preferably McCoy
http://www.amainhobbies.com/product...2119/n/Racers-Edge-McCoy-8-Medium-Glow-Plug-1

after run oil is also something I recommend getting but not mandatory
http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_info.php/products_id/6562/n/Hobbico-After-Run-Engine-Oil

Fuel filters keep dirt from getting in from the tank into the engine which I use in all my nitros
http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_info.php/products_id/29038/n/ODonnell-Fuel-Filter-Assembly

Get all that stuff and youll have one of the nicest Duratrax Stadiums around! :)

Maybe a new clutch, bell, and bearings?? I have goten a bunch of stripped clutchbells because duratrax is so cheap, ever since i got an ofna bell never had a problem

So Iam thinking that I might start this build a little sooner then this winter, I was thinking of pricing some simple things in the next couple weeks,

Now do I start with the servos and electronics? or some where else.

IMO I think you should start there but get an air filter first. When you get your elecronics get a fail safe it is essential so your car doesn't go out of control if you lose range or if your battery gets low. $25 insurance can save hundreds of dollars in the future.

One more silly questions,

Finally some cheap JR servos
http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...tal-Gear-Servo (steering)
http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...h-Torque-Servo

If I have a radio with the crystals, can I just get this set for steering and throtle?

Or is this a all in one servo radio.

and maybe in time a radio (controler) preferably Airtronics or spektrum

I do plan on doing the air filter, fuel filter, and a fail safe. Just not sure where to start......

Get your air filter, fuel filter, and a failsafe first. Those are the cheapest parts (in my long list :D) and the electronics. First off decide weather or not you want a new radio. Reason I say that is, because if you do, take a look at the radios I listed and maybe invest in the one that includes the servos

http://www.amainhobbies.com/product...port-FHSS-2-24-GHz-Radio-w-3-Channel-Receiver

And then just follow my list. Motor and Exhaust system next, then the rear tires and wheels, then consider the other ideas I posted. Every thing I said on my earlier post is very important to have and a good idea to look into getting.

Oh and to olds97_lss... umm yeah haha I kinda got a little too into what I was saying so I ended up giving out a big list whoops :first_place:

ok so all settled, so the reciver with the servos, fail safe, fuel and air filter, and new fuel lines. Hoping for a big payday by the end of the month, so will start placing orders then.

Glad I could help! :D

Also good idea getting new fuel lines, kinda feel stupid that I didnt think of that too haha. Good luck man, I wanna see some picks of it when you get your new parts put on.

Looks like an exact copy of my Rustler :)

IMO instead of buying a new engine I would try rebuilding the engine that is in it. The only reason I say that is because as a noob who has only been doing this stuff for a year myself I did that and the first time I did it I made some small mistakes...I learned alot by doing it and if your gonna make mistakes and potentially screw up your first one might as well be on that duratrax engine.

If your not into tinkering and leanring the nuts and bolts then maybe get a new engine at that point :)

just my 2 cents

I need all the help that I could get, every idea is greatly appreciated.

I was going to get the new engin and keep it as a last resort. I wanted to rebuild or see if I could get the one thats in there to work. I did some pricing last night and I figure that Under 200$ I could get this thing up and running. We will see what the end of the month looks like.

IMO i would rebuild the engine for the learning of it and when that engine goes out get a quality engine, then you'll have the know-how to maintain and take care of your engine.

totaly agree with you, I will try to work this engin as much as I can for the learining experiance. Besides I think it would be fun to rebuild. I will pick up a new one to have on hand. But rebuild first.
