hey guys i am some what new to this i always had eletric cars but this is my first nitro buggy i bought a ofna ravangr and was told when running them i have to watch my temps. try to keep the temp in the 220-240 range. i started out rich and then when i would try starting it again i had problems starting it. it would take like 2mins of pulling to get it running then i was told to lean it out so i did and when i checked it, it was at 250-260 if i turn it to riching it, it has a doesn't start unless it is leaned out. what is my problem and how do i keep it in a good temp range

Some engines like to run hotter than others. I say run it where it goes best.

Your LSN might be lean which would cause higher temps. Then you richen the HSN a lot to compensate and it runs terribly. I would check that before anything else.

250-260 in the summer is not bad at all.
What you can do to help the engine start easier without leaning it is to preheat the engine when it is cold. Nitro engines hate to be cold. They start so much easier and idle better if you preheat them to at least 150F before starting. This is the proper way to start a new engine for the first half gallon.

ok this might be a dumb ? but what do u mean by preheat the engine

I heard this suggestion on another forum. I take no ownership of it.

'If you are not accessible to a heat source (Maybe you're at a park?), you can use the exhaust of a car to heat up the engine.'

I haven't tried it but it sounds like it'll work.
