The stock carb in the megatech .16 didnt hold a tune, so it leaned itself out causing it to overheat. with the OS carb installed, it held a tune, so it didnt lean itself out and didnt overheat. the carb was the same size, just dropped it right in.

ok i need info on that carb. where did you get it? how much is it? i have a neo .16 megatech. willl it fit and work on it?

I have heard from various members on the boards that more Nitro actually will lower your temps. I don't remember exactly why, but I posted something similar to what you said (More Nitro = More power = More heat) and I was corrected by by many people saying more Nitro actually cools the motor to some degree. Becasue of the higher compression you will get more performance, but your engine will wear out faster becasue of this.

I think 20% is the best.Higher nitro content will blow glow plug really fast.I know this from experience because my uncle ran it in all his cars and trucks and he blew a glow plug just about every other run.And his engines werent over-heating. :)

HERE WE GO AGAIN!
First off, I'm glad you like 20% If it works well for you continue to use it by all means.

As for 30% nitro fuel blowing all plugs in all engines real fast, This as a false statement and holds no water in my bucket.

Trust me when I tell you your Uncle was having issues other then nitro content. In SOME circumstances this may be true but 99% OF ALL CAR AND BUGGY ENGINES WILL NOT HAVE THIS ISSUE.

if u read my other responses u would see i took it off a old OS .12 CV-X, so thats where i got it and it didnt cost me nothing, and yea it will work. check out towerhobbies or some place to get the carb.

Hey, Powerman dude. Don't knock 30% fuel. There's a certain "moderator" that gets offended when you do. The way I figure it he either works for the petroluem industry and is making a profit on sales of nitro or he works for a glow plug manufacturer or an engine maufacturer and is making a dime on replacement parts.

Word to the wise, just nod in agreement. "30% is the best", "30% runs cooler", "30% tastes better on my Cheerios", "30% gives me wood"............

Why, was it you? I don't remember who it was, but everyone that added to the thread was of the same opinion......except that member.
If it WAS you, and I honestly don't recall, have you finally come around?

Yeah yeah yeah, and woman have been saying for years there's actually a "G" spot too. BS, I just don't buy it!
:smoke:

And when you find the "G" spot, you'll also notice that it's a "Sweet" spot.

aj i do believe the carb you are looking for would be the o.s 10er...those came stock on most all os .12 like the cv cvr and hyper 12's....if i am wrong someone please correct me....

as for 30 percent nitro i only have one thing to say....run 20 percent...enjoy it....BUT

WHEN MY OS V SPEC COMES ZINGING BY YOU PULLING MONSTER HP ON 30 AT TEMPS AROUND 200...DONT TELL ME WE DIDNT WARN YA....

as for nitro content ....with either 20 or 30 it is possible to "make" a nitro engine run hot...false needle setting (even when smoke emits from pipe)...lots of things....

i think most people should read this article....
http://www.nitrohouse.com/tip,_engine_breakin.htm

then try out the % of nitro you want at the "RIGHT" settings....and remember just because your pipe is emitting smoke and your temps are around 200 degrees does not mean the motor is tuned right....its a sweet mixture of many things to get these motors to run "right"...or "perfect"......pay close attention to glow plugs as their color and wire shapes can tell ya just as much about the motor as anything else......

just my 2 cents...but after years of messing with engines in general as well as r/c motors....i've come to relize just because they start and run...don't mean they are properly tuned....

my advice to someone new would be to visit a track nearby...find someone running good and have them look at it for you...and listen to their advice....wheter its right or wrong....and i think i speak for the rc community when i say this....i have never not helped anyone who's asked for my help...i have never said i was always right....
and just about everyone i have ever came into contact with in this sport will usually go the extra mile to help out a new racer...or even a veteran racer whos having problems.....

as for the 20 or 30% percent debate...i agree with most that 30% runs cooler...20% also runs good tho...it all has to do with settings....
i can make any motor run hot on any fuel....trust me ....lol....but either motor on the same fuel can be tuned in right and run cool on any fuel....
but generally two motors "tuned" properly...1 on 20% and the other on 30% will run cool and the 30% seems to run faster...but not as long a life span as the 20%......SO IN CONCLUSION...both fuels are good...both can run hot or cool...its all up to personal prefernce and tuning......

i was reading another post on rcnt and it just occured to me...how long is your pressure line?...i didnt want to re-read but i didn't remember it being said....

a short pressure line can and will cause pulsating in the tank and lead to air bubbles in the fuel lines....thats a problem too as it cause the engine to lean and run hot....just an idea.....

what do you mean??? the fuel line going from muffler to tank or what??

The line that connects from the fuel tank to the exhaust pipe is commonly referred to as a pressure line or a return line.

LOL. I've seen a two babies come out of there. 6-to-8 inches won't come even close
